OnePlus 5: Motherboard overheating when phone is off, and battery connected.

My phone received seawater leakage. I turned it off as soon I could, let it dry overnight and opened it up the next morning. I found lots of dry salt (Looked like a layer of white powders.) I cleaned it up with 90% Isopropyl alcohol, and removed thicker layers of dry salt with a plastic pick. Now the motherboard overheats when I plug the battery connector in. Is this normal? Or should the motherboard only heat up when I power the phone on. Does the motherboard still have a short on it? Or is it a battery issue?

Thanks in advance.

OnePlus 5: Battery malfunction? Unable to calibrate...

Hello, people of Earth!

It has been almost 3 years since I bought my OnePlus 5, taking good care of it from the beginning, so that its longevity is maximized. For the past couple of months, I’ve been having to deal with a problem, that I have not been able to fix by any software, reboot or other non-teardown ways.

The indicator/number for the battery-charge on the screen is just completely out of sync with the actual battery capacity. If I drain it completely, charge it to 100%, then it will dip to 1% within few hours and then stay there for over a day before shutting down (in the middle of a task, let’s say). There are very few instances, where I’m able to get the indicator close to reality, but this includes precision and timed charging time, which is just inconvenient and quite random.

I’ve waited for couple of updates, but no fix came, so I’m now quite confident in that it is a hardware issue, given that most smartphones last merely 1-2 years these days.

My set of questions…

Could you confirm this is most likely a hardware problem?

Would a battery replacement most likely fix this problem?

…or is there some other part responsible for the monitoring of battery capacity?

Additionaly; does battery replacement make the phone lost its water resistance?

Thank you :)

Basically i did a screen replacement on a OP5 and everything seems to have survived. I tested the phone without clipping it competely and it works flawlessly. The problem is, when close the new back cover, the power button gets pressed stuck by something, and even trough i’ve exhaustively checked the area, i can’t find anything wrong. Any clue?

OnePlus 5: Bluetooth falling out when backplate is re-assembled.

I noticed after replacing the powerplug harness that the phones bluetooth had seriously degraded in performance. I have to be within 5 cm for it to work properly.

I’ve narrowed it down to having something to do with the backplate. If I take that off and power the phone it will have somewhat decent bluetooth although not the normal full range. But the moment I click in the upper part of the backplate my bluetooth headset starts losing signal and eventually dropping out entirely.

So what is the deal here? I am pretty sure it has something to do with all of those little contacts that the backplate activates, but it isn’t exactly mentioned anywhere which of these is used in bluetooth communication and what I can do about it.

OnePlus 5: Black screen after lcd+sceen replacement

Hey ! I just finished replacing the broken screen on my op5 and now it won’t turn on. I can feel the vibrator and see the red LED when powering it up but the screen won’t display anything.

I read here that it can come from the version of Android installed on the phone, but I don’t have a screen to perform the downgrade.

Any idea about what could have caused it/how to fix it ?

OnePlus 5: Oneplus 5 Screen Freeze | Motherboard Issue | Manufacturing defect

Guys ,

My Oneplus 5 Device is facing Screen Freeze issue from last few months which gets temporary resolved after multiple reboots , sometime single reboot sometime it didn’t wakes up for 2 days. Now after fighting this battle for months my phone is dead. Display works, everything in the phone works (can see notifications getting recieved , battery getting charged, Network reception on place), just my screen doesn’t respond to my touch. As discussed with Oneplus service center , it is a manufacturing defect in motherboard which is faced by many user who have replaced there motherboard during warranty but i started facing it after my warranty expired.

Now i want to know which component in motherboard can cause this issue where everything is working in background , display is working but screen is not responding to touch.

If anyone can crack this one.

OnePlus 5: Replaced screen. Display black after waking.

The phone is fine until I put it to sleep then wake. The screen lights up slightly but stays black. To get the screen working I have to hard reset the phone then it is okay until it goes back into sleep.

Does the new LCD sound faulty or is it software side?

OnePlus 5: Display won't turn on in night mode

I recently replaced my broken display. Since then the display won't turn back on from standby. Sound and the capacitive buttons on the bottom indicate the device is waking up, it's just the screen that doesn't display a thing. When I then leave it for some time it eventually will display something (~1-2 minutes). It also turns on instantly if I plug in the power cable.

The weird thing about it is, that only happens after sunset in night mode. During the day or if night mode is turned off it works flawlessly.

Could it be the new display or did I damage something?
