1989-1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera: Replace Ignition Control Module

I have a 1989 Olds Cutlass Ciera 2.5L 4cyl

After driving for 20 to 30 minutes my car will suddenly stall. I wait about 10 minutes and it'll start back up again. It runs for another 10 to 20 minutes (or 5 minutes at times) then stalls again.

I changed the fuel pump relay and that seemed to do the trick but then I didn't really drive more than quick in town trips. The first time I took it out of town on the highway it stalled 3 times. It took me an hour and a half when it usually takes half an hour at most. It stalled once on the way home. The next morning I went out to start my car and it wouldn't start. It cranks, gets fuel but just won't fire. I was told by my mechanic that it's the ignition control module. My son is going to try to fix it since my mechanic is down with the flu. We don't have a repair manual so I'm looking for some detailed instructions. Can anyone help?

Oldsmobile: Having RPM gage issues

I have a 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora that I just bought 2 weeks ago. The check engine light was on when I bought the car but I wasn't having any issues.. It was put on the computer & it had a misfire code that came up. Then last week I went to start it & it immediately died.. I turned the key off & it started back up with no problem.. But my RPM's immediately went to 8 while I was sitting there waiting for it to warm up.. I didn't realize at first so I started driving.. Then when I came to a stop my RPM's was going down to 4.. That's when I realized what had happened..So I turned my car off & restarted it & then my RPM's were between 1 & 2.. It does this all the time.. Plus there has been a few times that I was driving & my RPM's were normal.. Then I give it gas & my car kind of jerks & my RPM's immediately go to 8.. So I have to stop to turn my car off & restart it again. My mechanic says that I need a crank sensor & that will fix the car from the dying issue.. But he is not sure why the RPM's do this.. Any idea's???

Guys, I hate to break it to you, but if you want this site to be useful the information you provide probably should be accurate. I'm a girl and even I noticed you have some wrong information on this page.

While technically Oldsmobile, and Chevrolet are both GM products, the 305 was a Chevy engine. 7th gen Oldsmobiles used a 307. Still very interchangeable, and quite similar, but it's not exactly the same.
