Office Chair: What part is this chair missing?

I got my hands on an office chair which seemed fine but upon inspection the base isn't attached to the chair. The old owner had wrapped a crap ton of duct tape around the “poll” coming off the bottom of the chair and just jammed it back in place. This solution sucks and I want to properly fix this, can I buy a generic part to replace what’s missing?

Office Chair: Does this look like a solid repair?

Long story short: Chair decided to break randomly when I was using it, so I could not repair it for 2 days and had to not put even more stress on the back.

What I did was when I had time to take it out and work on it, I applied some JB Weld - not enough :/. So I had to come up with a different plan: Lowes sells something called FiberWeld by JB Weld, which is essentially epoxy coated fiberglass you roll onto the area as a one-shot thing; there's no reusing it once activated because you activate the entire roll :-(. Kind of wasteful, but I get it.

When I did this to the chair, I let it dry for like 4-5 hours to be sure once it cured and it seems like the side with the epoxy is more solid then the original not broken side of the chair 😂. I still intend to replace the chair as I do not trust it, but how long should this last?

Office Chair: Office Chair Back Support Locking Not Working

I have an office chair - Featherlite Optima High Back Mesh Chair which I purchased around 5 years back. Recently, the back support lock was not functioning correctly, and 2 days ago, it completely stopped working.

It locks in one position and doesn't allow the backrest to go completely back, but it doesn't hold the backrest at a particular angle anymore.

I had faced this issue before once with this chair, within the first year and they had replaced the complete chair mechanism then, as the chair was under warranty.

What are my options here to fix this?

Really appreciate any help or suggestions with this. Thanks.
