Nintendo Wii U GamePad: How to fix the fading blue light issue?

Hello folks,

first up, I had this issue for the 2nd time now.

I had the GamePad in repair at Nintendo while I still had warranty on it. They could fix it but 8 weeks later, no warranty any more, the thing brakes again.

My issue with the GamePad is, that the screen is staying black. I can charge it, the batteries are full. I unscrewed it and all plugs are in the right places.

When I press the power button, the blue power light goes on, but fades away. It won't turn on again, unless I unplug the battery and plug it in again.

Can you help me please?

Sincerely,

Nintendo Wii U GamePad: Wii U Gamepad Screen Repair?

I love playing on my Wii u. Titles like Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon help me feel awesome. But unfortunately, my Wii u gamepad screen broke. I've looked everywhere for a guide to do it because it cost $100 to get it done by Nintendo. Can someone please give me a guide or possibly ask IFixIt to create a guide to overcome this problem?

Nintendo Wii U GamePad: How to fix wii u gamepad zl and z buttons?

I had my wii yo for about 2 years so it is no longer under warranty. I hardly ever use it, I have never dropped it or spilled anything on it. I recently baught the new Mario kart game and realized the zl z buttons are not responding. I do not know if these buttons were broken when I bought it of they suddenly stopped working since I do not remember using these buttons for any other games. Is there any thing that I could try to fix it. It seems a waste to buy a new one since buying an iPad is only about 50 buck cheaper than buying the whole system again and I just spent a ton of money on a new game that I can't use properly. This is the second time I had an issue with wifi u since I already had to send the actual system for a repair before. Love Nintendo games but hate the quality of their systems and accessories.

Nintendo Wii U GamePad: How do I replace the digitizer on the Wii U gamepad?

One of my parents dropped something on my Wii U gamepad, and it created a very small dint in the right centre of the screen.

It's was so small I didn't even notice at first, but it was when I started trying to use the touch screen and found that it was almost unresponsive - taps weren't registering and it took around ten attempts to tap on something before it finally registered, the curser getting stuck right where the dint was in most cases.

Sometimes it would randomly start working again but quickly reverted back to it being unresponsive.

The LCD is in fine condition as far as I can tell - don't see any dead pixels or bleeding, so it seems only the top layer/digitiser is faulty.

So, unless anyone more experienced can tell me otherwise, it seems like a fairly simple digitizer replacement job as I've done with a couple of phones in the past.

I noticed that others on here have said the digitizer is not fused to the LCD, so hopefully it'll be a fairly simple job.

There's not much documentation on the web, so I was wondering weather anyone could point me in the right direction if there's anything to be careful of or something that might break?

Just bought a replacement and already have the correct tools, so I'm going attempt it myself.

Thanks everyone!

Nintendo Wii U GamePad: Where is best to find a new replacement Wii U LCD screen?

I'm hoping to find a new LCD screen for my Wii U game pad. I've had to replace it before, twice in fact. My kids are young and responsible now, but they once were very destructive to my Wii U screen. The most recent damage wasn't so bad that it couldn't be played, but now that they're older I want to return it to a new state, only now I can't seem to find a replacement screen.

They used to be around $25 pretty much everywhere and there were a dozen sellers available on Amazon alone with solid reviews. Now there's just a bunch that are $50 there and on ebay, most of these say "out of stock", and all the reviews are terrible. They don't even sell them here on ifixit, with it listed out of stock and after asking them when they might be back in stock they replied saying they have none on order and have no plans to place a new order for them.

Please does anyone out there know a reliable and quality seller like ifixit that is still selling a Wii U LCD screen replacement? I'm not even sure why they all stopped given it's a console that's recently seeing a massive resurgence in the used games market, and the gamepad screens are absolutely vital to play the console. I imagine the sales are slow, but they are absolutely going to sell out given enough time. I'd even be willing to pay $50 or so for one, but the issue is in the reviews. I don't want to get screwed, and given all other stores say out of stock I'm expecting to be scammed by the last few no-name companies that claim to have them in stock on Amazon and Ebay. Seems sketchy AF.

Please help!

Nintendo Wii U GamePad: Wii U Gamepad Digitizer and buttons issue

I ordered a broken wii u off of ebay. The console works fine, but the gamepad is broken. The auction said it was taken to a non nintendo repair person for a cracked digitizer. The auction said it wasn't working.

I received the gamepad and system and tested it. The gamepad's touchscreen was working at first and I was able to sync it to the console. I did notice that it wasn't the most responsive screen. The second time I powered it up to test a game disk, the gamepad digitizer stopped working. I also noticed some buttons didn't do anything. I can't navigate the menu with the dpad. Of the xyab buttons, only x will do anything.

I'm guessing something went wrong with the repair or a defective replacement digitizer. I'll likely have to replace the digitizer. I'm just wondering if it would be easier to replace the whole screen? The screen is working and replacing just the digitizer would be cheaper. I'm not sure which I want to do.

What I'm not sure on is the buttons. I would imagine that I could navigate the menu with the dpad, or am I wrong about that? I think the A and B buttons were working when the touchscreen was working.

Nintendo Wii U GamePad: Wii U Gamepad won't respond!

I got my Wii U around 2013, and about a year ago(2016) it just started to not respond. I asked my siblings if they done anything to it, they said no, which I'm guessing they did something to it because my little sister used it a lot then stopped.

The Wii U in the app selection menu doesn't respond as it should. The D-Pad, ABY buttons, Start/Select, Analog sticks, and I think LR too don't respond. Only X for the switching to the plaza thingy. Touch screen doesn't work either. If I want it to start working, I would have to give it a smack in the center of the screen, then it would start to work for a little bit.

IN GAME, Breath of the Wild for example, it works, the controls everything, but when a text display comes up or in the pause menu, the buttons don't work, again have to smack it a bit. When I play on the game pad itself and not the TV, it will glitch on its own back to the TV, and I have to hold the touch screen for 2-3 to play on the game pad and not tap. Mario Kart it glitches back too.

I did take out the battery for 30 seconds to a minute, it works for a while but then goes back to its not working state. Also did do the touch screen calibration and it works for a short while, then back to its not working state.

Please help with this! It has been doing this for about 6 months, and it's really really starting to get annoying. I can provide pictures if needed :D

Thanks in advance!
