Nintendo Wii 2011: Broken DVD Ribbon cable?

I replaced (second time) a dying DVD drive in my Wii. This time the power LED is red, but the device won't turn on or accept a disc. I tried to bend the DVD ribbon to make it easier to put in, but it felt like I bent it too far and broke the cable. Is this the behavior of the Wii not seeing a DVD drive? Is the solution to replace the DVD ribbon?

Nintendo Wii 2011: Unknown loose washer in Wii

I found a screw washer inside my Wii console as I was taking it apart and I don't know where it goes. I was having issues with it reading disks. There was some debris that may have been interfering with the laser, so I cleaned all of that out. Now I want to put it back together, but don't want to leave out this random washer, especially if it may be contributing to the problem. None of the screws I removed had a washer on it. Any help in identifying where it goes is appreciated.

Nintendo Wii 2011: Why won't my Wii read discs after replacing the lens?

I have done all of the things suggested to figure out why my Wii won't read discs, I have even replaced the lens with a brand new one… but it is still giving me the disc reading error. It does not make any unusual noises and the discs are spinning just fine. I even checked the region to make sure it wasn't a compatability issue and have tried multiple discs. What else could possibly be wrong?

Nintendo Wii 2011: Smoke came out of my console how to repair it?

Yes it's a dumb question but I don't know how to ask. So this is what happened:

I am from India and I bought a wii game console when I went to USA. So I need to use a power converter so the console works in India. It worked well until my younger cousin inserted the powersupply directly without converter and the smoke came out of the console and it doesn't work anymore.

Any idea what parts are damaged and how to repair it?

It willbe a great help to me thank you

Nintendo Wii 2011: WiiMote Repairs, got some questions.

So, I’m doing repairs for a reseller of older consoles. he sent me home the other day with a crate of WiiMotes. the problems shown are “Won’t Sync” “no Power” “Corroded X” and a few “Doesn’t Work”. I have combed the interwebs and have yet to find anything, that could help me troubleshoot components. I have found a couple interesting Articles. One being a tear down from 2006 on SparkFun, and a PDF for a project detailing converting the WiiMotes to USB. I’m competent and can understand a lot. I even used to posess the J-STRD Soldering Cert. while a lot of usefule information can be taken from the teardown, I’m not able to extrapolate relevant information since in depth electronics are not really something I do. I Build, Troubleshoot, and service PCs and Networks. Electronics has been an interest but not really something I do hardcore into. Troubleshooting and repairs are soemthing I can do, but, I need data. I have test points all over these WiiMotes, but I’m not sure about the data to look for, which points to use with others and what data i get will tell me. So it comes down to, Does anyone have this information or knows where to find it?

Nintendo Wii 2011: How can I best recover data from old Wii SD cards?

I am using my friends old Wii to play RockBand, and all the old SD cards appear to be empty on the Wii (mostly DLC). When I look at them on Ubuntu, they all have FAT16 file systems, and they are all 50% to 90% full. They vary in size from 1GB to 32GB.

Two of the cards are OK, but the other 9 show no files on the Wii. I know there are a great many SD card file recovery tools, but most of them specialize in Picture file recovery.

Do you have experience recovering Wii files from SD cards? If so, please let me know what you know on this subject.

Thank you!
