Nintendo Super Famicom SHVC-001: PAL SNES boots to a dim screen when turned on

When turned on with a game inserted, my PAL Super nintendo will show a black screen with 1 pixel on the bottom right of the TV.

The only exceptions are:

Super Mario Kart, which shows the nintendo logo before fading to black and not loading the main game

DOOM, which shows the red intro text, Ocean logo and then proceeds to an extremely dim and corrupted title screen. It allows me to start the game and the music and sound effects work, but it's impossible to see anything other than the severely dimmed gun shots.

Here's a list of games that I tested and got nothing but a black screen from:

Super Mario World

Doctor Mario and Tetris

Arcades greatest hits

Starwing

I don't know much about the SNES, but my research makes me think that the problem is something to do with either the PPU chip, VRAM chip or Ricoh 5a22 CPU.

Any ideas or suggestions as to how I can salvage this console, or is it done for?

Thanks in advanced.

Nintendo Super Famicom SHVC-001: Why is my console shutting off and resetting?

I have owned a super famicom for about 2 years now and it used to work fine, but recently it has started to get into some kind of reboot loop in every game. It starts with grey horisontal lines appearing and blurring the screen a bit, but the game still works and there is sound and colours behind the lines, but after a while the lines get very noticable and the console resets, but the lines are left and the resets happens more and more frequently.

The console will sometimes work fine for over an hour, but sometimes the lines appear immediately.

I have tried cleaning both the cartridges and the cartridge port, but it doesn't seem to help in the long run, the problem is the same on all games I've tested.

If somebofy knows what might cause this problem, and knows how to fix it, I would be very grateful:)

The serial number seems to be “SM11834888” if that's of any importance.
