Nintendo Entertainment System: Why are some of my NES games not reading the controller input

So last week I went to a retro gaming convention last week and I bought paperboy and Dirty Harry on nes along with other few nes games and when I got home I cleaned them and tested them and all of the nes games that I bought at the convention worked except for paperboy and Dirty Harry both games seem to run normal until when I tried pressing all the buttons both games would not start at all,I tried swapping the controller ports and pretty much nothing for Dirty Harry and for paperboy when the game goes on to demo mode I press either select or start and the game stars going to the player select screen but the game still doesn’t let me continue playing the actual game it just keeps going to demo mode and after that I tried testing every nes game that I had in my collection and all of them seem to work fine except the last star fighter which baffled me because the last time I played that game it had absolutely no issues with controls and worked fine and I quickly noticed that all the games that had issues with not reading the controller input where games that mindscape developed/published and I wanna know if it’s the issue with the cartridges, the console or the controller

Nintendo Entertainment System: NES colors too pale

I got myself an NES some time ago from ebay and tested it now. The problem in general is, that the color palette is really pale and you can hardly read any text ingame like that. Does somebody know an solution to that or even why the problem occurs? I already tried the method with the two games in the slot, but to no avail.

Here are some photos to compare to the originals

Nintendo Entertainment System: Why does red light come on but nothing happens on tv screen

Why does the red light come on and stay on but absolutely nothing happens with the tv screen? I’ve even tried switching channels. I’m used to the blue screen or blinking but that is not the case right now. At this point my tv doesn’t even acknowledge I’ve pressed the NES power button.

Nintendo Entertainment System: Not Outputting Video From RCA Composite Jack

Hey guys,

Having a bit of trouble with a Nintendo Entertainment System not sending a signal from the red and yellow composite ports. So far I have refurbished the refurbished 72 pin connector and I’m getting a great solid red light when the system is on. I also disabled the lockout chip to avoid issues there.

I’ve tested the system on two modern TV’s. One 1080p and on 4K in the composite ports. I have played other “retro“ systems in these ports in the past.

I just ordered an RF box to test if there is a signal coming from that port, but it’s a week out.

Nintendo Entertainment System: Black screen, no sound or image

Hi,

Just got a NES in a trade, and i wasn’t able to test it out since today.

So as you can tell by my title, don’t get anything except a black screen. The red light is steady (no any blink or so), and my game is clean. After that, i disassemble the unit for clean it up and see if it gettin better. I don’t found major issue or obvious problems on the motherboard or others components.

After reassembly, i test it again, for a similar results. So I’m a little bit stuck…

Any tips or advices ?

Thanks

Nintendo Entertainment System: I fixed a problem but now got another one...somebody help?

Fixed blinking red light first but now as I power on the system, there's only snow and noise on the screen

Tried 2 different video cables (both quite old tough)

Cannot be the cartridges as each and every one got cleaned inside out by me.

It is related to the video/sound but I doubt on the connectors as I'd get nothing on screen/speakers if it were to be the case right?

Anyway if anyone can figure it out with this diagnosis I'd be more than thrilled^^"
