Ninja NJ600: blender won't lock onto base

My Ninja blender won't lock onto the bottom of the base. It usually sits straight down on base with corners unmatched then you turn it a quarter of a turn to lock it in place. It won't even sit on the base straight down. It has no broken pieces or any particles of anything in the way to keep it from lining up. I usually use the small cup for everything, but I need the big blender today. Did I forget about some safety feature or something?

Ninja NJ600: The blender sparked and stopped working

I bought the Ninja NJ600CO in June 2019 in USA and brought it to India. I knew that I would need a step-down converter to reduce the power supply to 110 volts because in India it is 220 volts. So I used a step-down converter to bring down the supply to 110 volts. The blender said it was a 1000 watts so I made sure to buy a heavy duty converter that could support the wattage till 1600 watts. However, as I plugged it in and switched it on, the blender sparked, made a jolty noise and conked off. I immediately disconnected the power supply. I’m not sure what to do next, I’m scared to plug it in again because I don’t want to do more damage. It’s brand new and I’m in India and can’t even take it back. Would be great if it could be repaired and ideally modified to suit 220 volts power supply. Please help, thanks!
