Nikon Coolscan IV ED: How do I install a driver?

Windows recognizes my LS 40 Ed scanner, but says that there is no driver. Nikon scan 3.1 or 4 does not recognize that a scanner is present, and won't install a new driver. How do I get a driver into the scanner?

Nikon Coolscan IV ED: Anyone know how to open this up for cleaning?

I have a Coolscan IV slide/negative scanner and would like to clean it. There is gobs of dust on the element. Can't really just get in there with an air can.

There are screws holding the steel shrouding on the back, but I cannot seem to get the plastic front plate off. Not sure if it should pop off, or if there are other connectors.

I would appreciate help here.

Many thanks!

Nikon Coolscan IV ED: My scanner makes a fast clicking noise and won’t turn on

The scanner won’t turn on after being plugged into the wall, instead it only makes a constant clicking noise like something’s zapping. It remains clicking for a second or two after unplugging it so it might be a capacitor issue but I’m not pro with these devices.

Nikon Coolscan IV ED: Coolscan IV ed No Image when scanning slides

I have a Nikon Coolscan IV ED which has served me very well for 6 years. Last week it would no longer scan color slides. (scan works but there is no image) It will scan color negatives and will scan B&W negatives although the B&W are not as clear as they used to be (grey scale does not have as much contrast). Are there trouble shooting steps I can follow to determine the problem. I'm wondering if one of the LED's are out.

Thanks,
