Nikon Speedlight SB-600: stuck on overheat screen

My Nikon Flash - SB 700 Speedlight has been stuck on the overheated screen or thermal cut-out indicator screen for over a year now. I just just turned it on last winter randomly and it was on that screen. It never got overheated to start. I rarely used it and took super good care of it so this seems incredibly unfair. I assume it just needs to be factory reset, the problem is, you cant do that without accessing the menu. I have contacted a camera repair place and they said they cant do anything because Nikon only lets their products be repaired at thier centers. However, Nikon wont tell me how much its going to cost me before I send it in (where I am responsible for the shipping there and back). Can someone please tell me how to fix myself or how much it will cost just for a factory reset? I cant find anyone else having this issue anywhere on the internet! thanks.

Nikon Speedlight SB-600: Randomly not firing, full battery, not in stand by

Hi,

I bought a second hand Nikon SB-600 and once at time he don't flash. It is not in stand by, the battery are full. I tried on the camera and off camera with Wave 2 triggers.

From 10 tries 3 or 4 he are not firing. When this occurs, the red led which indicate the "charged" status is blinking, and the lamp not firing.

I cleaned all the contacts, both on the flash and the camera. Now the contacts are perfectly clean.

Do you have any idea what can be and how can I fix this?

Thank you so much!

Nikon Camera Accessories: Nikon Loose Screw (SB800 Flash this time)

(Well it's not a FlashGUN, but).

Screws fell out. Used to be they would sell you more very cheep. Now they say send it in. I wonder what size these screws are, so I can save a bunch of time and concern and Put Them BACK Meself! I have experience and a ground strap.

Sad how repair is such a delay, and uncertainty with them. Convinced they broke my D300 flash when they overhauled my shutter. Took so long, I put up with it or use my D70(s) if that is important
