Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Automatic screen rotation not working

I've had a Nexus 7 Gen 2 for a couple years now, and recently, the screen has stopped rotating in response to device orientation. Restarting the device used to fix the issue temporarily, but now even that doesn't always work. This also affects tilt functions in various games.

Check My Android reads 0 on the tilt sensors when the device gets stuck. I use Rotation to manually shift the screen, but this problem occurs with or without the app installed.

Any suggestions as to what might be wrong and how to fix it?

Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Micro-USB port not working

I have a Nexus 7 (2014) (says ASUS on the back along with the NEXUS name). I've always had a little bit of trouble seating the micro-usb connector for charging but a couple of days ago it indicated that, even though connected, I needed to connect to charger. I moved the cable connector about a little and once or twice it indicated that it was connected and then immediately that it was not. I haven't been able to find that "sweet spot" again and now the battery is dead. I believe that the micro-usb port is loose/bad and am looking for a way to repair or replace the port.

Everything I find on the internet is for 2012 or 2013 models. I would really rather fix this that have to scrap it for something so basic. And, besides, I love the picture clarity and size and the new tablets that are coming out all seem to be larger.

Nexus 7 2nd Generation: I am Stuck On Reboot Screen

I have tried all of the troubleshooting tips on the forums for trying to reboot my device but no matter what I do I all i end up seeing is the google logo. I contacted Asus and they told me it was out of warranty and that it would cost $200 for them to wipe the tablet and re-install the operating system. Is there a cheaper option? I 'd rather not have a paper weight and from what I've seen online that is what it looks like.

Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Can I upgrade my storage?

Is it possible to upgrade my 16GB 2013 Nexus 7 storage to a 32 GB or more? Sadly the operating system takes up more storage space than I expected (a whole four gigs!) so now I only have 112 gigs of usable space, and I need a little more for what I use my tablet for.
Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Nexus 7 2nd generation not charging, or very (very) slowly

Hi all,

I am facing an issue since few weeks with my Nexus 7 2013 2nd generation.

When it's on charge, the charge indicator is shown, however it's not charging, or it does very slowly (sometimes the charging time is estimated to 1 day! sometimes there is not "estimated time" at all)

At first, I managed to charge my tablet using the trick "turning off the tablet, keeping the power button pushed for 45secs/1min, turning on again normally". It sometimes needed several tries, and the speed of charge varied a lot.

Since a couple of days, this trick doesn't work well anymore. I manage to charge my tablet but it's always very slow.

Also the cable as to be in a specific position, if not it's won't charge at all. And the charge may stops without reasons or keeps changing state from "charging", not connected, "charging" etc.. (I don't move cable at all)

Do you think this issue is more likely related to battery, or to micro usb port, or both ??! I was thinking to buy a new battery but I am affraid the daughterboard has to be changed too.. If I have to change both it might be better to buy a new tablet instead..

Thanks in advance for you feedbacks!

ps : I have got my nexus since december 2013.

ps2 : I tried using different charger/cables.

Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Why Wont My Nexus Charge or Turn on?

Hello, my name is James. I have had my nexus 7 2013 for about a little more than a year now, and was wondering why it won't charge or power on. I am guessing it is the charging port(the port on the tablet itself) but am not too sure. It might be the battery but I don't think so because the battery quality is pretty good. If you suggest an answer can you please provide a credible repair center as well, thank you.

Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Doesn't turn on with a good battery

Hello all,

I have a 2nd gen nexus 7 that won't power on. I first thought that maybe it was just a dead battery and bad charging port, so I soldered in a new charging port. No dice. I then took the charged battery out of another working nexus 7 and popped it in. Still not starting.

I of course tried holding the power button down for a long time and to try and boot it into the bootloader/recovery screen. Nothing.

The only other thing I've tried so far is switching the silver ribbon cable from the nexus that works, and that didn't work either.

I can see that the motherboard has been taken out at some point because the seal on the screw was chewed up, however the seal on the daughterboard was fine (could've still been removed and replaced carefully). I don't really know where to take it from here.

I can do SMD soldering if that helps.
