Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Nexus tablet not turning on (boots to google logo)

My nexus tablet (7 gen2) boots up to the google logo, and gets stuck there. Also, it has had a battery replacement, and screen replacement in its life, if that means anything. Nothing i do helps, and i want old vides off it. Pls help

Update:

So its been a bunch of months and i found out my problem, (i completely forgot about this post lol) the white ribbon cable was giving me troubles, not connecting properly due to one single bent pin from poor re-assembly.

that being resolved, i royally messed up the orange ribbon cable’s connector at the top of the tablet

Time for some micro-soldering!

Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Automatic screen rotation not working

I've had a Nexus 7 Gen 2 for a couple years now, and recently, the screen has stopped rotating in response to device orientation. Restarting the device used to fix the issue temporarily, but now even that doesn't always work. This also affects tilt functions in various games.

Check My Android reads 0 on the tilt sensors when the device gets stuck. I use Rotation to manually shift the screen, but this problem occurs with or without the app installed.

Any suggestions as to what might be wrong and how to fix it?

Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Can I upgrade my storage?

Is it possible to upgrade my 16GB 2013 Nexus 7 storage to a 32 GB or more? Sadly the operating system takes up more storage space than I expected (a whole four gigs!) so now I only have 112 gigs of usable space, and I need a little more for what I use my tablet for.
Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Nexus 7 2nd Generation Stopped charging/charges extremely slowly

I have had my Nexus 7 2013 for 2 or 3 years now with no issues. Suddenly it has had an issue with charging. When in use and plugged in, it slowly, inevitably drains (or moderately quickly depending on what I am doing), and when turned off it is charging extremely slowly. This only occurred a couple days ago after no issues since purchase.

I have searched several videos but have found no real answers to this specific issue, only tangential ones like not powering up after the battery running out, or the cable being loose.

Is it possible the battery is just worn out, and it needs replacement? I would prefer fixing the issue before buying a new one but will do what is necessary to avoid getting a new tablet entirely. What about a factory reset? I don't think it is software based as I haven't updated the firmware or any apps lately but would try it if necessary. Thank you.

Nexus 7 2nd Generation: No display replacements are responding to touch.

I’m fixing a friend’s Nexus 7 2nd Generation tablet, and I’m currently 3 displays down. Each time I install the display (and frame), turn the tablet on, and it won’t respond to touch at all. The first replacement responded for about 10 minutes before it no longer worked. After this I’ve ordered another 2 from different sellers (trying to get them from different locations too) and both have not responded to touch at all.

I’ve installed the old cracked screen back on multiple times and that works perfectly fine so I know that it’s not my method of installing them, nor an issue with the tablet hardware.

Am I just being scammed buying these screens that will never work, or is there some sort of other issue which could be fixable?

Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Micro-USB port not working

I have a Nexus 7 (2014) (says ASUS on the back along with the NEXUS name). I've always had a little bit of trouble seating the micro-usb connector for charging but a couple of days ago it indicated that, even though connected, I needed to connect to charger. I moved the cable connector about a little and once or twice it indicated that it was connected and then immediately that it was not. I haven't been able to find that "sweet spot" again and now the battery is dead. I believe that the micro-usb port is loose/bad and am looking for a way to repair or replace the port.

Everything I find on the internet is for 2012 or 2013 models. I would really rather fix this that have to scrap it for something so basic. And, besides, I love the picture clarity and size and the new tablets that are coming out all seem to be larger.

Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Doesn't turn on with a good battery

Hello all,

I have a 2nd gen nexus 7 that won't power on. I first thought that maybe it was just a dead battery and bad charging port, so I soldered in a new charging port. No dice. I then took the charged battery out of another working nexus 7 and popped it in. Still not starting.

I of course tried holding the power button down for a long time and to try and boot it into the bootloader/recovery screen. Nothing.

The only other thing I've tried so far is switching the silver ribbon cable from the nexus that works, and that didn't work either.

I can see that the motherboard has been taken out at some point because the seal on the screw was chewed up, however the seal on the daughterboard was fine (could've still been removed and replaced carefully). I don't really know where to take it from here.

I can do SMD soldering if that helps.

Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Nexus 7 2nd generation not charging, or very (very) slowly

Hi all,

I am facing an issue since few weeks with my Nexus 7 2013 2nd generation.

When it's on charge, the charge indicator is shown, however it's not charging, or it does very slowly (sometimes the charging time is estimated to 1 day! sometimes there is not "estimated time" at all)

At first, I managed to charge my tablet using the trick "turning off the tablet, keeping the power button pushed for 45secs/1min, turning on again normally". It sometimes needed several tries, and the speed of charge varied a lot.

Since a couple of days, this trick doesn't work well anymore. I manage to charge my tablet but it's always very slow.

Also the cable as to be in a specific position, if not it's won't charge at all. And the charge may stops without reasons or keeps changing state from "charging", not connected, "charging" etc.. (I don't move cable at all)

Do you think this issue is more likely related to battery, or to micro usb port, or both ??! I was thinking to buy a new battery but I am affraid the daughterboard has to be changed too.. If I have to change both it might be better to buy a new tablet instead..

Thanks in advance for you feedbacks!

ps : I have got my nexus since december 2013.

ps2 : I tried using different charger/cables.

Nexus 7 2nd Generation: Half touchscreen dead after Nexus 7 2nd Gen daughterboard replacement

So I have this problem, which is shame as I was well pleased with myself for swapping out the daughterboard (the usb port was borked).

Is it likely to be the either the motherboard ribbon (it has a crease in it close to the zif connector, although I tried swapping it around just in case)? Or the LCD ribbon? Or either not being correctly seated in the connector? They look fine but…

The screen was fine until I swapped the daughterboard, and I thought I was being pretty gentle with it, although presumably it could have been faulty to begin with. (Ebay from China somewhere).
