Nexus 7: Nexus 7 will not boot, just screen flicker

Hi Everyone,

I have a new Nexus 7. As soon as I brought it home, I checked to make sure it started charging and also boot-up.

Now 3-4 weeks later, its been lying idle inside the packaging/box. I hooked it up for charging and nothing came on! No charging message, no Nexus Logo. Just blank.

I tried holding the power button for 30 secs, 60 secs, forever ... nothing. All I get is the back-light. If I hold the volume+power button for some time, I get some flickering/snow on the screen. I even left it in the socket for 2 days, still the same thing. Strangely, if I take it off charging; it becomes a 7" brick, with even the flicker and back-light failing.

I'm guessing it is a battery issue. Can someone confirm and tell me what all I need to do ?

Thank You

Nexus 7: Why does my tablet keep shutting itself off?

My Nexus 7 has been having a problem the past couple of days where after I turn it on, it will run for a few minutes, and then it will freeze and the screen will go black, showing up with the google reboot screen a few seconds later. If I leave it completely alone, it will stay on for about 6 minutes before it shuts down completely, and if I try to actually do anything on it it turns off in way, way less time. I haven't been able to pin point it to a certain app of process, though some things will shut it down faster than others. It is making it impossible to use my tablet and I don't know what could be causing it.

Nexus 7: Where to find replacement parts for Nexus 7

I am looking at trying to find individual parts for the Nexus 7 (back cover, batteries, etc). My main concern right now is finding a couple back cover replacements. Is there a specific e-tailer, or area that I can purchase replacement parts from? Either directly through a dealer, warehouse, etc.

Nexus 7: Why isn't my N7 charging/turning on?

My Nexus 7 was at around 40% battery a few nights ago, so I switched it off as I usually do and plugged it in and the charging icon appeared. However, when I came back to it around an hour later, the charging icon was showing it charging from the bottom (empty battery). I switched it on and it showed 0% battery and powered off automatically.

The next time I plugged it in, nothing happened and it seemed dead. The only time it responds is when I put 5v across the pogo pins, then it shows the charging icon, I can then plug in the USB cable, remove the 5v from the pins and the charging symbol will remain. I had left it like that for around an hour, tried to turn it on, it booted but immediately powered off again, displaying 0% battery.

I have opened up the device and made sure the battery is securely connected (it is) and I'm stumped. I've tried every method I've seen including:

Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery after a couple of minutes

Holding power + volume-down to get to the bootloader

Keeping it plugged in overight

Any idea what I can do to fix it? It's 2 months out of warranty so returning it isn't doable.

Nexus 7: How can I separate the glass and LCD display?

Here it is: my Nexus 7 accidentally bathed in capuchino because I put take-away capuchino together with my Nexus 7 in a bag. I open my Nexus 7 and make some cleanning and assemble again. When I plug in the power cable, the screen was on and what I saw was just a dark yellow screen.

Can I do anything to make my LCD alive again? Should I seperate the glass and LCD display to take a look inside if any coffee capuchino get inside? I do some researchs and it would cost me 130$ for a new LCD display, I would rather buy new one. Anyway, I want to try before giving up. If you have any idea, please advise me.

Nexus 7: Replacing only the digitizer for cracked screen

hello there

I've had my nexus 7 very recently. on the fourth day I bought it I got it out of my pocket and I found a crack on the screen. now the outer glass is cracked and the upper area of the screen is not responding to the touch. although all of the screen is still displaying stuff normally.

as you expect this is quite annoying since I keep rotating my tablet around to get to parts of the display :-D

now I've found digitizers being sold separately (without an LCD) on eBay for 72$. and since I live in Egypt I'll have it shipped from China and try fixing it here.

some people said I should get a used one or get a whole screen for easy replacement (LCD+ digitizer).. but I really can't afford this option.

my question is this. how doable is this? and how can I replace the digitizer and leave the LCD intact?

thanks in advance.

Nexus 7: Use of external mic thru audio jack

Can you please tell me if the Nexus 7 supports the use of a headphone/mic combo so that when the audio jack is inserted the internal mic is bypassed and the external mic provides the source of audio. In other words does it work the way any ordinary cell phone does? I ask because I have received 2 units and neither works in this way (the internal mic continues to be used when I insert a plug that includes a mic). Google seems to think they muct be defective (e.g., a solder joint is bad) but given that you have taken the tablet apart, I thought you could provide a definitive answer.
