Figured it out. For one it was 5 blinks, not 3, and also you just need to charge it longer it seems. I recommend

Nexus 7: Nexus 7 powers on, but is stuck on the start screen.

I tried to root my Nexus 7 using a Nexus Root Toolkit program while the device was connected to my PC. Initially I was successful, but then had issues running some apps on the device. I decided to restore my Nexus to factory settings using the root program to do so. I'm not quite sure what I did, but the device has been stuck on the start up screen ever since, with the white "Google" letters showing, and a lock in the unlocked position showing at the bottom of the screen. Nothing is affected if I touch the screen or toggle the volume buttons. If I had down the power button it simply powers off, and returns to the same screen when turned on. The Nexus Root program still recognizes the device, but does nothing if a command is run. I'm afraid that I might have "bricked" the tablet, as I had read it described.

Nexus 7: I broke off 2 bits from the board while handling it, what do they do?

Hi all!

While i was trying to change the battery on my nexus 7 (2012) Ist generation, while handling it i by mistake broke the bits shown in the picture (circled in yellow).

What do they do?

As it did not charge before i broke these bits off after I had replaced the battery, I assume my charging port is also faulty, but not sure, whether if I fix the port the tablet will work without them. Are they replaceable? Can I solder them back on the board?

Would I need to also replace the motherboard?

Thanks in advance!

Nexus 7: Nexus 7 will not boot, just screen flicker

Hi Everyone,

I have a new Nexus 7. As soon as I brought it home, I checked to make sure it started charging and also boot-up.

Now 3-4 weeks later, its been lying idle inside the packaging/box. I hooked it up for charging and nothing came on! No charging message, no Nexus Logo. Just blank.

I tried holding the power button for 30 secs, 60 secs, forever ... nothing. All I get is the back-light. If I hold the volume+power button for some time, I get some flickering/snow on the screen. I even left it in the socket for 2 days, still the same thing. Strangely, if I take it off charging; it becomes a 7" brick, with even the flicker and back-light failing.

I'm guessing it is a battery issue. Can someone confirm and tell me what all I need to do ?

Thank You

Nexus 7 2012. Purchased a replacement battery from this site. Installed it according to the instructions. Put the tablet on a charger for 10 hours. No indication it was charging and after 10 hours tablet would not boot. Put the failing original battery back in, tablet booted. There must be something I’m missing. What does it take to get the tablet to recognize a new battery?

Nexus 7: Why does my tablet keep shutting itself off?

My Nexus 7 has been having a problem the past couple of days where after I turn it on, it will run for a few minutes, and then it will freeze and the screen will go black, showing up with the google reboot screen a few seconds later. If I leave it completely alone, it will stay on for about 6 minutes before it shuts down completely, and if I try to actually do anything on it it turns off in way, way less time. I haven't been able to pin point it to a certain app of process, though some things will shut it down faster than others. It is making it impossible to use my tablet and I don't know what could be causing it.
