Nexus 5X: Cracked Glass Covering the Camera

The glass covering the camera on the back of my Nexus 5X recently cracked. To prevent shards of glass falling off in my pocket, I removed the entire piece of glass. Now my camera will not focus (even after carefully cleaning the exposed camera lens).

1. If I replaced the glass the covered the camera, would that also correct the focus issue? Or because it cannot focus without the glass, should I assume the camera lens has been damaged as well?

2. Where can I purchase a replacement glass cover? Google and LG did not offer any replacement part purchasing options for this phone.

Nexus 5X: Fingerprint reader married to board?

I work at a phone repair shop, and I just ordered a Nexus 5x for myself. Now, I know that the with the iPhone 5s and up, TouchID is built into the home button and that swapping out the home button for another will make TouchID quit working (error 53) since the home button (and the TouchID chip) are married to the motherboard. Now that Google, LG and Huwei have adopted fingerprint readers, are they taking a similar approach with Imprint?

Has anybody attempted a fingerprint reader replacement on either of these phones? If so, does Google, like Apple, marry the reader and board together? Or, does Imprint still work after a fingerprint read replacement?

Nexus 5X: Water damaged Nexus 5x (Updated 4.1.16)

Update 4/1/16: No change to the phone, so I got in touch with Google and LG for resources, since I know the warranty is void. Google can't help since the warranty is void, so that left me with LG. Their customer service is the worst I've ever had. Too many issues to list here, but when an agent tells you to send a GOOGLE phone in without its back cover and battery, it's a bad sign. Just because it can be done, doesn't mean it should be. I was horrified that they insisted it could be done, even though the phone is sealed and I would need special tools. How on earth do they know for sure that it needs a new battery??? Anyways, it was shipped off for diagnosis today. They said once they figure out what's needed to repair the phone, they would call me to discuss charges. If it's irreparable, they say they'll just send it back. If it ends up being repairable and is sky-high to fix, I'll at least find out what the diagnostic said and try to fix it myself. Let's hope the technicians treat me better than the poorly-educated service agents. Unacceptable.

Over the weekend, my Nexus 5x took a quick dip in the toilet. I scooped it out and quickly turned it off (amidst the onset of screen flickering). So much for those "water resistant" YouTube videos where the phone doesn't skip a beat.

So far, after letting it dry for a few days (in rice, despite declarations that it doesn't work) as well as using a low-heat blowdryer on it, I cannot get it to come on unless it is plugged into the charger. Even when plugged in, it will display the battery charge symbol for a second with a quick vibe, before turning back to black. Upon holding down the power button, I get the Google logo flashing across the screen with a quick vibe...same thing, back to black. I have been able to turn the boot mode/recovery mode screen however (power button plus volume button), which stays on until I make a selection using the power/volume directional buttons, but quickly goes back to black again. Puzzling. I want to say it's the battery, but if that were the case, wouldn't it stay on while plugged in?

The phone is too new for the "fixit shops" to touch just yet....so I'm left with a 5 month old brick (should have sprung for Nexus Protect, I know, I know) until I can figure it out. HELP!

Nexus 5X: Replaced screen, phone screen turns off during calls

So after replacing the LCD screen and a new frame on my Nexus 5x, the phone works perfectly fine until I use it to make a call. The phone stays on and the call goes through, yet the screen goes off and cannot be turned back on until the call is ended by the other caller.

My question is should I reassemble the phone again, or is this a software issue. To reiterate, the phone works perfectly fine otherwise.

Nexus 5X: Nexus 5X USB Parts

With the nexus 5X does anyone know if you can get parts for it anywhere?

I stupidly tried to plug a micro USB cable into the phone instead of the cable it came with.

I managed to strip the pins from inside the port and it now (understandably :) ) won't charge.

Looking at the various tear downs suggest that the USB port is fixed to the mother board so might not be replaceable without the whole motherboard - but I can't find any where that sells anything other than screens for these phones.

Anyone else got any ideas?

Nexus 5X: Nexus bootloop cause, motherbaord piece broke

Okay, so theres a pretty common bootloop issue with the nexus 5x, and my phone wont turn on. However Ido not believe the common bootloop issue is my phones problem, it at first appeared to be a stuck power button. So I open up the device and in the proccess, I broke a little piece off near the vibrator module, (capacitor?). The phone will boot sometimes and freeze and crash after a bit, and sometimes it will bootloop, How can I determine the cause? Before messing with the power button on the motherboard, i couldn't get it to turn on at all, or show any display.

Nexus 5X: Phone in soda for about 60 seconds

Last night I dropped my phone in my drink for a solid 30 - 60 seconds. Long story about how and why that happened. I couldn't turn it off immediately since there's no removable battery and the screen display went black (I later found out the display cable/connector was right around the area it was submerged in) but it was still playing Spotify. I unplugged and attempted to suck out all the soda that I could and ran my vehicle's heat on it at max temp for a few minutes since I was driving and couldn't stop or do anything else.

Before bed I left my phone in a bag of rice completely taken apart. Back off, motherboard separated, and battery outside of the bag. The device was only submerged maybe 50% of the way. I've woken up and tried testing it out and the screen turns on! However, when it boots up fully the screen goes black. If I sit the phone face down and pick it up, it will display the time, date, and a WhatsApp error saying the date/time is off. If I touch the screen or press the power button it will instantly fade to black. The entire time the phone is turning on, the display is fully on and nothing is wrong with it except for when it fully boots into OS. Any ideas?

Nexus 5X: Looking for Nexus 5x Schematics

I have a Nexus 5x that won't charge because of water damage. I opened it up and it looks like there might be damage on the quick charge circuit but I don't know what to test for. I have tested the battery connectors on the motherboard and I don't have any voltage there. Also the place where the quick charge chip is heats up when it's plugged in.
