Nexus 5X: Looking for Nexus 5x Schematics

I have a Nexus 5x that won't charge because of water damage. I opened it up and it looks like there might be damage on the quick charge circuit but I don't know what to test for. I need some schematics to see what parts are supposed to be capacitors and what parts are filters or resistors. I have tested the battery connectors on the motherboard and I don't have any voltage there. Also the place where the quick charge chip is heats up when it's plugged in. Does any one know where I can get schematics for a Nexus 5x? I can't seem to find them anywhere on the internet.

Nexus 5X: Phone no charge after screen change, it gets hot instantly

I just changed a broken screen on my Nexus 5x, and I used a brand new replacement form ifixit, as well as a new battery. I followed exactly all the instructions from ifixit. I also transferred every single small piece of rubber from the old assembly to the new one, but it doesn’t work! When I try to charge, the top part of the chip quickly gets very very hot! What should I do?

Nexus 5X: ghost touchscreen inputs due to water

I got some water into my phone and the screen has been wonky since then. Sometimes it behaves like normal, but most of the times it does this thing where random touch inputs occur in a column in the middle of the screen.

Edit: It seems like the orientation of the phone has something to do with the touch inputs. When I leave it screen down for a period of time it's fine, but if I turn it screen up, after a while the random inputs start occurring again.

Nexus 5X: Thermal Pads for Phones

Hi guys, so right now I’m doing a screen repair on a Nexus 5X and I’ve realized that there is a thermal pad on the phone’s screen assembly (see picture). I don’t think I can transfer this pad without breaking it so I was wondering which thermal pad should I buy.

I left it to charge overnight, and while it shows me it’s charged, the power button does nothing.

Looking for some advice and troubleshooting steps. Thanks.

Nexus 5X: Phone boots and backlight turns on but display is blank

Hi,

So I bought a Nexus 5x off of eBay that didn’t turn on. Tested a new battery and the phone booted up but was stuck on the Google logo, then eventually turned off and wouldn’t turn back on. I then tried another battery but it still didn’t power on.

Next I tried the bootloop/no power fix using a heat gun with solder flux on the memory chip. This has caused it to boot up completely into the OS and shows up via USB on my PC but there is no display, only backlight. I then tested a known good screen with the same result. I also checked the display pins on the mainboard which look normal.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or experience in fixing this issue? Or how to go about testing for further information.

Thanks.

Nexus 5X: Hard brick, no signs of life due to bad flash. Nexus 5x

N5X has been degrading overtime, but for the most part I felt pretty lucky because I didn't boot loop like a lot of others. Yesterday I had the android oreo 8.1.0 update and well... Today it happened wouldn't start at all and it was rebooting endlessly. I left my bootloader unlocked for just this sort of situation, but unfortunately seem to have made things worse for the time being. I tried to use a "4 cores fix" as most people are calling it and there was an error midway though. I figured I'd reboot the bootloader and try again... I didn't get a second chance.

I could pop it open at this point but I'm not sure it would do much good considering software-wise it is (likely) toast.

Currently no signs of life hard brick.

nothing with power button

nothing from pwr + vol up/dwn

no charge animation

windows does not recognize it.

Nothing super valuable on the phone besides authenticators and 2FA ... Just a phone I enjoy and would like to get working again if possible. I've repaired a couple phones before with no issue.

Nexus 5X: Nexus 5X battery drain (even after battery replacement)

Hi all,

I know there is already a ton of questions about battery drain on a smartphone, but I couldn't find one that matched my experience. This is particular hard to get rid of.

I have a Nexus 5X which after a couple of years started to drain the battery faster and faster. So I started to do some looking around and some troubleshooting.

First I started to keep an eye on Android's battery stats to see if any weird app popped up, using a lot of power. Nothing out of the ordinary. Most used apps used most power, but not exceptionally much.

Started to be more conscious about device usage. Switch wifi, bluetooth, location off when not in use. Going through individual app-settings to make sure they weren't trying to get a gps fix in the background or something.

Since the device was a couple of years old and heavily used, I figured it might be time for a new battery. Ordered one, replaced it (yay for ifixit guides). Same story.

Reset the device to factory settings and got rid of most apps (kept the ones I used daily because, you know, I use them daily). With fresh software and a new battery surely, things would look up? Nope.

Hmm... Installed an app to closely monitor the battery (Accubattery). Again, no apps that stood out as exceptionally batteryhungry. After a couple of weeks of use, it did show the max capacity of the new battery was only at 75%.

Contacted the shop I bought the battery at. They were cool, sent fresh one so I replaced the battery again. Reset to factory settings just to make sure.

That's where I'm at now. Overnight, with zero screentime, the battery dropped about 40%. I get about half a days' use out of it before it is completely dead.

Are there any other things I could be looking at? Any tips, hints? Any advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance!
