Nexus 4: Reviving phone w/ dead battery

Hi,

I wanted to temporarily revive my ancient Nexus 4, but the battery is completely dead from what I can tell ... it will shortly come up with the charging sign on the screen when connected to power, then the red LED will blink forever, sometimes it will turn off eventually, but the battery doesn't seem to take any charge.

There's no point in shelling out some 20-30€ for a new battery, so I thought about just soldering on power to the phone (or the battery cable/connector). I see a V- and V+ mark on the battery lead, not sure if it's the 1st and 3rd lead, or 1st and 4th (which is it?) ... can I just put 3.8V on the +/- leads to get it to power up?

Nexus 4: broken battery pin, phone no longer charges, help!

Yesterday, I attempted to fix my Nexus 4 by replacing the LCD screen, in the process of disconnecting the battery, with battery pins, I snapped off a pin using a prying tool as one of the terminal screws was too heavily damaged to use.

Nexus 4: Cell Phone Vibrator Two Wires Adapter

hi,

i am looking for an adapter to go from the two power contacts of a cell phone vibrator (nexus 4) motor into two wires, which i will use to activate the remote starter in my car from the contacts of the cell phone when my cell vibrate. i reason that many people already solved this problem to use their cell phones to activate things in their cars or in their homes. do you happen to know where to purchase or how to make such adapter? i do not want to weld wires to the very tiny contacts of the cell phone where the vibrator motors sits because it will very likely burn them.

thanks.

Hi...

For a couple of weeks my good old Nexus frequently asks for the pin code. Especially while driving in my car. Sometimes it also happens when I carry it around in my pocket.

Has anyone an idea? Might resetting the device to factory defaults help?

Nexus 4: Fake/replica Touchscreen only working on 4.2.2

Hello everyone, I got a replica screen from an online seller who doesn't want to refund me.

I found a thread in this web site that said some replicas only worked with 4.2.2, so I downgraded from 5.1 to 4.2.2 and touchscreen works, but I don't want to be stuck with this version, some of the apps I use doesn't work with this version, is there any way to make the touchscreen controller work with at least 4.4.4?

This is the thread Touchscreen not working after display change I read and the user projectgus says something about CyanogenMod fixing the issues or that's what I understood.

Is there anything else I can try?. any advice?

Nexus 4: USB premium cables stop syncing or is the phone port getting dodgy?

Hi all,

I notice that the after markets USB cable that I bought (they're not generic ebay/chinese ones but Lindy ones) stopped letting me transfer data to the computer to my Nexus 4 phone (but they'restill able to charge the battery). I remember they used to deliver data as well (and as advertised).

I did a test with a brand new Samsung cable which arrived with my girlfriend new Galaxy Note 4 phone.

Now, there's a BUT! It's not the first time this is happening and it's really frustrating (all the times I need to transfer some photos I need to find a working cable) but should I possibly blame the USB port on the phone for this? It's getting loose/wobbly/"dodgy", requiring me to re-push the connector back in to avoid conncection issues.

Now the question is: could be this loosey port be the cause?

I had good brand phones before getting to the same situation (loose usb port) in a relatively short time: how is that possible producers are still sticking to this kind of connection?

Did even Apple drop the mag safe on the recent iPhone? (it's ages I haven't seen one)

Why USB-C didn't address the issue at all?

It's nearly 2016!!!

Thanks for suggestions and sharing your experience

Nexus 4: Why won't my nexus 4 turn on?

Hello, I just bought a used Nexus 4, apparently just had a dead battery. Put in a new battery that came with the Nexus and charged it for over 2 hours, nothing turns on. Tried the hold volume up + power for 60 sec, and also hold volume down + power for 90 sec, neither worked. I opened the Nexus 4 up and saw that the charging port was missing the gold foil.

Would that be the problem? Or should I just buy another battery and see if that works? I can't tell if the battery is getting charged or not, but the phone is slightly warm after a few hours.

UPDATE:

Got a new charging port, it didn't come with the gold foil I mentioned. Put it in anyway, and now I get a solid green notification light, so at least I got some progress. I'm trying a bunch of different things, looked online and read a bunch of forum posts about red blinking lights or red solids, but very, very few solid greens. Anyone have any experience with that?

UPDATE #2:

Got a new battery, replaced it, and it works just fine! Not sure if it was the combination of replacing the charging port and the battery or simply the battery itself. Glad it works though.
