New Nintendo 2DS XL: Turns off with a pop but not right away

My 2ds xl has been having issues since I modded it however I recently fixed them all. When I turn on my console it turns it will run games it overall works. However if you push down on the front of it It’ll shut off with a pop. I took out some screws in the motherboard but then put them back. I don’t believe that is the issue though because I loosened them a little. Please help me I don’t want to be in constant fear of squeezing it too hard and it turning off.

New Nintendo 2DS XL: Nintendo New 2DS XL does not power on after battery replacemet

Hello,

I recently purchased a new battery for my Nintendo New 2DS XL from iFixit. The device was working perfectly before the replacement. I decided to replace the battery because I have been using the console since launch day.

After installing the new battery, the 2DS no longer powers on. When the charger is not connected, no LEDs light up at all. When I connect the charger, the battery LED lights up orange. If I then try to turn the device on, the power LED turns on for about less then one second and immediately turns off again.

I have also reinstalled the original battery, but the same symptoms occur now.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,⏎
CouKice

New Nintendo 2DS XL: How to fix black screen of death?

Whenever I try to power on my 2DS XL, the solid blue LED light comes on, but the screen stays black. I’ve had this issue in the past, but it always seemed to resolve itself when I powered it on and off again multiple times in a row. Now, that’s not working this time. My partner told me maybe it’s a problem with the capacitors?

It wont turn on. I have it plugged in. The orange charge light is on. But whether it is plugged in or not, when i push the power button, the blue light comes on for about five to ten seconds and then shuts off. No screen activity. And you can hear it shut off. It makes an audio click off type sound. Whats the diagnoses? I had it in my back pack. Too much pressure?

New Nintendo 2DS XL: Reddit keeps deleting my posts, so I'm trying here. Info in post.

I apologize if I make any mistakes in tthis post, i am under incredible amounts of stress.

My N2DSXL fell on the ground and doesnt work. Please help me fix it. Please.

While outside, my N2DSXL fell on the ground while it was on and closed. After about a second, it shut off. I try turning it on and i see the screen light up as well as the blue light, but it turns back off immediately. I panic and I remove the SD card, cartridge and stylus. I try again; screens light up, blue light lights up, except now jt lasts about a second or so longer before I hear a popping sound from the speakers and it turns off again.

It fell from about... 90cm? On some rock/marble flooring. I also noticed that right above the left hinge, the frame of the top screen snapped. It isnt very noticeable though, im hoping its just cosmetic.

Please help me. I'm writing this as I make my way home from the nearest electronics store that stold iFixit's repair kits. All im missing are the precision tweezers, id have to wait 8 hours for those, but i should have some at home.

I will appreciate any kind or form of help. Thank you in advance. I will update this post as time goes and as I find out what its looking like inside

New Nintendo 2DS XL: New 2DS XL D-pad right direction not working

Hi everyone,

I’m repairing a used "New Nintendo 2DS XL" , and I found something odd while diagnosing a D-pad issue.

Only the right direction on the D-pad doesn’t register at all. After opening the console, I noticed that the conductive rubber contact (the D-pad rubber sticker) for the right direction is partially cut/trimmed, while the other three directions are intact and working normally.

The PCB traces and pads look fine, and the button still has physical click/feel — it’s just electrically dead on the right side.

My question is: Why would someone intentionally cut or trim the rubber contact like this?

Some possibilities I’m considering:

• An amateur repair attempt to “improve” responsiveness

• Trying to fix a previous input issue by reducing thickness

• Reusing an incompatible D-pad rubber from another model and trimming it to fit

Has anyone seen this before? Is this a common mistake in DIY or refurb repairs?

Any insight or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

New Nintendo 2DS XL: Wont Turn on Or Charge after Top Screen Repair

So I recently was able to replace the Top screen of my console. The old one had a broken ribbon cable. The process was pretty simple as years ago i had brought it in for the same kind of repair so all the adhesive was gone. But once I put it back and placed the battery the console wont Turn on Or Charge at all. Im pretty sure i put everything back correctly there wasnt much that had to be disconected. Is it possible it mightve brown a fuse? Any suggestions are appreciated

New Nintendo 2DS XL: Ribbon cable of the top screen is getting extremely hot

The ribbon cable is getting really hot and surface of the screen is almost painful to touch. The issue persisted even after the screen replacement. The screen was also replaced a while ago (6-7 years ago I think). It may be because the previous guy covered the left side of the screen (where the ribbon cable is) in glue (ribbon cable was covered in it).

New Nintendo 2DS XL: My 2ds xl keeps freezing when shaken, bumped, or randomly

(The device has been modded for like 1 or 2 years)

I've had my Nintendo 2ds xl since 2019/2020 and since 2 years it's been freezing when shaken, bumped, when I walk around with it, or even randomly. The freezes vary, sometimes it's just frozen, sometimes the top screen repeats on the bottom, or it's just weird glitches.

After it freezes, I can power the console back on and usually powers back on normally, but sometimes it shows this and turns back off

And sometimes it shows a red light next to the camera and turns back off

And I usually have to hit the back of the device until it turns back on normally again.

Usually I can play a game for 5-15 minutes before it freezes, but sometimes earlier or later. And I wanna mention that the front camera is disconnected or broken, and the microphone is also buggy, I don't know if that has to do with my problem but I thought it's worth mentioning.

New Nintendo 2DS XL: 2DS XL shows blue LED before making a "pop" sound and shutting off

New Nintendo 2DS XL: Why is my DS sometimes not waking from Sleep?

Hello friends!

I bought a Modded New Nintendo 2ds XL sometime in 2017 or 2018. Since then stopped using it for awhile formatted the micro SD that had come with it. Now I have recently picked it up again and was having issues with getting to boot properly. Turns out I needed to get all of the Luma Files,GM9 (GodMode9) back onto a new SD card. After that I was able to get it to boot properly again.

After that I was able play games for awhile but noticed that after playing some games that intermittently it would not wake from sleep! Now I have tried a few things to resolve this issue. Here's a breakdown of what I have tried.

I have ensured that both boot.firm, boot.3dsx, and config files from the latest release of Luma are pasted to the root of the SD Card.

Checked that boot.firm file has been updated in CTRNAND via GM9

Updated GM9 to latest version from GitHub

Used a new SD card and repeated steps from Above

Forced a rebuild of exdata

Re-seated battery a few times during this process

At this point I'm assuming that there is an issue with firmware corruption and will try a CTRTransfer before I start to assume that there is some weird faulty hardware.

My question to you fine folks is. What else is there left to try, did I miss anything while troubleshooting here? Does anyone have any idea what is going on and have run into any similar issues? I have went ahead and ordered a new battery as I am assuming that this one is worn and would need to be replaced at some point not that I am expecting this to fix the issue. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know and I will probably give it a try.

Thanks ahead of time to anyone willing to help!
