We replaced the starter,battery,fresh fuel and seniold. When we try to start it trys but enough to kick over.

We replaced the battery cables and still wouldnt turn all the way over. My husband says that it does not spark. Do you have any other suggestions? Model number 309304x8 Murry 11hp briggs

It has a tag under the above model # that says date of manuf. 3063.

It must be coded #. I know its not made in 1963.

Murray Riding Mower: Mower turns over, but will not start

This problem started last year before the winter.

The old battery was not secured well and slid around and touched the body of the mower and sparked up. I'm not sure if that might have caused something in the electrical system to short? Or this could just be a coincidence.

I replaced the battery and has a good charge.

If I pour some gas, or spray ether into the intake the mower fires up and runs clean / strong but only for about 3 seconds. Then it dies.

Plugs look fine. Not wet. No carbed or gunked up

Gas is passing through the fuel filter and the fuel line is wet where it attaches to the carb.

I disconnected seat safety switch and wedged in small wood shim so connections aren't touching.

What do you guys think this could be?

I have a 17hp techumseh engine on a Murray riding mower that tries to start but won’t. It fires enough to kick the starter out but won’t go ahead and start. I’ve cleaned carb, set valves, checked spark, (blue) and checked crankshaft key….I can’t figure it out…it was running good until I ran over a motorcycle tire in tall grass I didn’t see….it was still running for a bit after I hit the tire, (it was just the rubber) and then bogged down and died…

Engine will run when jumped @ solenoid but switch does nothing but turn on lights. Switch does have to be in on position to jump @ solenoid. Switch tests as good...wires are good. What else could it be?

Murray Riding Mower: Starts but won't stay running

I was given the mower, it's been sitting s while. So I've replaced battery, selenoid, cleaned air filter, new gas(was empty). If I spray started fluid in under the air filter it will start but won't run. I also put carburetor cleaner in the gas tank but a half dozen cranks later over the next 30 minutes it still won't start. Not sure how to get to the carburetor and how to clean it if I do. Looked through many diagrams here with no luck. Help!
