Motorola Moto Z3: Why is new digitizer/screen not working.

A couple months ago my wife dropped her z3 and the screen cracked. It was still functional, for about a week, then it started to black out starting from where it initially cracked. I took it to a couple shops and they all said it was about $120 to fix it or I could order a digitizer/screen assembly and do it myself…being tight on money I opted to order the assembly and do it myself…I've done it before with no issues, so why not? Well, the new part came in, I watched several repair videos, read several write ups, took my time and was very careful. Old screen and digitizer were both cracked. New one went in pretty easily, but I plugged the phone in to test it before glueing it together and nothing. The phone vibrates (she's deaf so it stays on vibrate only) when it powers in, and when I touch the fingerprint sensor on the side, but I have no display and no feedback when I touch the screen. Could this be a bad replacement part or is it more likely something else is wrong? We'd really like to save this phone and the data on it if possible. She's currently using an old Droid turbo 2 that has a battery issue and has had a battery issue since it ran out of warranty…same issue with every white Droid turbo 2 I've ever seen…battery doesn't last long and doesn't charge well, and randomly reboots/shuts down…so she's already frustrated that she's stuck with that pos until her z3 is fixed.

Motorola Moto Z3: My display wont turn on

Okay. so today my replacement battery came in (yes)! It was definitely in need of a battery considering how the battery showed signs of swelling when I took it out. With that said, I have a new issue: the display.

My phone’s screen will no longer turn on. I tried reseating the ribbon cable, to no effect.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Motorola Moto Z3: My phone won't turn on, and it's been charging for multiple hours.

My phone was working fine this morning from around 7-8 AM, but when I set my phone on a bench it fell screen first and now it won’t turn on when I’ve dropped it in the past this has never happened before. There are no cracks on the front or back, just a small scratch on the bottom right corner. Throughout the day I’ve tried different things (letting it charge, holding down the power button from 20 seconds to a minute, holding down the volume button, and power button from 20 seconds to 2 minutes, doing all of the above on a charger, and even with the charger connected to my computer) but nothing has worked. It’s been off for about 11 hours and has been on the charger for 2-3 of those hours. When I plug in the charger my phone attempts to start, the charging symbol shows up (white lightning bolts with a grey circle around it), it vibrates once, then part of the screen shuts off almost at the top of the lightning bolt and the screen dims without turning on. I don’t know what to do, please help. I haven’t contacted any assistance but I will probably stop at the Verizon store either tomorrow or Thursday at the latest. My phone hasn’t been in any contact with water by the way.

Motorola Moto Z3: I just changed the battery, now it won't charge.

I’m wondering if I damaged the charging circuit, failed to reconnect things properly, or if it simply needs some kind of reset.

The new battery showed 37% when I powered the phone back up. I followed the advice to discharge it completely before charging, and kind of forgot about it. I did note that the display seemed to be stuck on 37%. When I got back to the phone, it was off from being completely discharged.

I have a good charger and good cable; it works fine for other phones. The phone was charging properly before I swapped batteries. I left it on the charger overnight and it’s still at 0%

Motorola Moto Z3: How can I access my phones functions when the LCD display is broke?

Thank you, in advance, to all that are able to provide a solution. The issue is, I dropped my phone on the gas station floor the other day (total face plant) and slowly the screen display started to fade away. I knew it was coming (been there a time or two) so I made sure to back up everything while I could so that I would have everything for the replacement. I’m due for an upgrade anyway, so I guess it could be worse. However, I forgot about my Company’s security feature that sends a text to my phone to confirm when I log in. I have a Fitbit connected to the device, so I figured that I would just read the code off of it, no worries. Wrong!! I forgot that when the phone resets, for any reason, I have to enter my security pin before any of the apps/functions/notifications will work. I tried to enter it, based on digit location memory, but was unsuccessful. Since I don’t want to completely lock myself out, if I haven’t already, I figured I would go to the web to get suggestions. Anyone….anything???? I just need to make it 3 more days and I’ll have my new phone.

Motorola Moto Z3: Battery temp sensor(thermistor) location?

I just replaced the battery and screen on my Motorola Z3. It’s not my first time working on devices and this wasn’t too difficult. After putting it back together it charged a little and then quit charging. I’ve tried multiple chargers and left it for hours, but it won’t charge. I dug into it and the battery temp is stuck at -48C, so I’m guessing that’s the issue. Anyone know where the thermistor is on this thing? It’s not on the screen assembly is it?

Motorola Moto Z3: Screen stopped working but phone still turns on and touch still works

My phone dropped, top half only, into some water for maybe 1 second on the 23rd. I quickly cut it off and dried it off and kept it up in the same direction so that any potential water would not continue further into the phone. Next day I cut it on and everything seemed fine except the camera appeared to still have some moisture stuck behind the lens and the touch was spazzing out. I decided to take off the camera lense and back of phone to try and make sure nothing at least was on that half of the phone and to dry the lens out with a microfiber cloth. I used a hair dryer, because i dont have a heat gun, to heat the adhesive and everything went fine. no extra water behind the glass back. But when i put them back on and went to cut the phone back on the screen suddenly stopped working but it still vibrates and reacts to touch. What should i do from here?

Motorola Moto Z3: Replacement ifixit Moto Z3 screen touch response does not work

My Moto Z3 screen cracked and so I tried to replace it with a screen purchased off ebay following the ifixit guide. The screen display worked fine but there was no touch response. Figuring the cheaper ebay phone screen digitizer was faulty, I decided to spend the money and order one from ifixit. I connected the new screen and again had display but no touch response. Thinking it might be a software issue I tried factory resetting my phone and still no touch response. My old cracked screen still has touch response which makes me wonder if the screen from ifixit is also defective or is there something else I am missing? This is not the first screen replacement I have done, all my past ones have never given me this issue before. I would appreciate any help or guidance. Thanks

Motorola Moto Z3: Vertical lines on screen after replacing with new screen.

I recently replaced my broken screen on my Motorola Z3 with a new screen from ifixit.

Before seating the screen I connected the ribbon and plugged in the phone just to make sure it would work. The charging icon came up just fine, no issues, so I applied the adhesive, and seated the screen.

After I was sure the adhesive was set I plugged the phone in to charge and there were vertical lines on the screen that would appear then disappear. Applying pressure to the screen seemed to make them appear, and sometimes disappear.

My first thought is that the ribbon is not completely seated in the connector, but before I attempt to rip it apart again I wanted to know if this is a known issue with replacements, and if there is a fix.

I have restarted the phone several times, and the lines still appear and disappear. The screen works fine other than this problem.
