Motorola Moto X4: moto x4 won't start or charge

My moto x4 is a little over two years old. It was working fine and fully charged when I sent it in the mail to my daughter at college. But she was unable to start it. Now that it is back home I see that it also is not taking a charge (though it was before). It does not respond to power button and volume down button held down for 2 minutes. Is this a bad battery or something else?

A while back my power button stopped working. No big deal, just don’t let it die. Well, it died. I pulled up the Boot menu, but can’t select anything because the power button does nothing. A more tech savvy friend suggested I disassemble to repair… Ok, but how do I do that?

For more info a possability is it have broke from water that may have gotten into a charging port but that happened 3-5 weeks ago from me writing this. Also note that I have tried 3 different chargers, multiple outlets and tried to see if there was something stuck up there however there is a small possability there is.

Motorola Moto X4: Why is my Motorola Moto X4 maximum charge 4%

I have been having this problem for nearly 3 years now. LSS I accidentally got milk inside the charger and my phone has been finicky about charging ever since. I've had short periods of time where my phone would randomly start working like normal for about a week until suddenly it would go back to the "life support" state where it needed to be charged 24/7 if I ever wanted to use it. Weirdly enough it started working like normal around the end of May, however, just a day ago I used a new charger in a new outlet and suddenly my phone was acting crazy. it went from 20% to 60% in a matter of seconds then down to 30% and went down slowly as if I never plugged it in. Now I'm trying to use y normal charger with the usual socket and the maximum charge is 4%. Any solutions?

Motorola Moto X4: What should I try next? Moto X4 will not power on - does not fastboot.

I found my phone powered down after a nap. I have been unable to power it back on since.

Things I’ve tried:

Checking the charger works with another phone (my partner also has an X4).

Cleaning the charging port of all debris.

Charging the phone for 24 hours.

Holding the power button down for 40 seconds.

Holding the (-) volume button and power button down for 2 minutes.

I replaced the battery using iFixit moto x4 battery kit. One of the connector locks has broken off so I used a dab of silicone to keep the connector in place.

Connecting the phone to my PC seems to be the only sign of life. The audible connect is heard but the device doesn’t show a connection. However, it does show in the device manager under ports. Looking closely there are three events, one of which is a warning. I’ve copied and pasted the key information below.

Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-PnP/Configuration

Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-PnP

Level: Warning

Description:

I am beginning to suspect this phone is now bricked. Seems odd that this would happen during normal use. I suspected the battery was the problem initially because I’ve had this phone a few years and I have definitely noticed the battery life beginning to wain. Thanks in advance for any assistance you are able to provide.

Motorola Moto X4: Screen replacement tested great, then black after completed install

After removing the old broken screen from the Moto X4 XT1900-1, I connected the replacement screen (Glass and Digitizer) before proceeding to install the precut gasket. It worked perfectly.

Then, I turned if off, prepared the surfaces, applied the gasket, and reconnected the ribbon connectors. The fingerprint sensor created vibration, but the screen stayed black. I repeated the sequence a half dozen times: turn off (press/hold power button, then press/hold power and down volume buttons), disconnect screen ribbon, reconnect ribbon, restart, sound resumed and fingerprint sensor vibration. Infant failure of the replacement part, or other damage?

On close inspection, there was a loose tiny plastic cube near the latch that fell off to a slight touch. In its place, previously beneath the cube, were 4 tiny metal connections. I reviewed a YouTube video of the repair, and saw a difference (image attached), suggesting a possible cause. Apparently two of the cubes are missing on my phone; my guess is that these cubes may have been jumpers connecting the 4 connections somehow. I was unable to find the tiny cubes to inspect and see if they are jumpers. If they are, it might explain the failure to perform, and I could repair with solder if I knew more about their function. I am reticent to remove one of the remaining 3 for inspection, and these cubes may have nothing to do with my problem. If so, it is probably a known production issue. The preview of this posting did not preview the uploaded image, which is an illustration of the area by the socket and a graphic of the potential issue described in this paragraph.

The failure could be an “infant” failure of the component, which is not very unusual. Before returning the part, I am hoping that someone has an idea. Because IFIXIT is a Motorola partner, I’m hoping for guidance from IFIXIT and Motorola experience. Meanwhile, I’ll try the disconnect/reconnect cycle more times in the off-chance that it might clear some debris that might have gotten into the socket.

Motorola Moto X4: ifixit moto x4 replacement screen correct one? part looks different

I bought the replacement kit from ifixit for my moto x4 (android one). When I look at the copper colored stuff to the left of screen connector cable(phone laying sideways on table in front of me, top(speaker+camera) of phone on my left, finger sensor part to my right) there is a completely different number and arrangement of metal bits and the black rectangular “pad.” Sorry I don’t know proper name for any of those things. I attached the cable and it seems to work, but I have only looked at basic functionality. I wouldn’t really know what things I should test to see if they are working.
