Minolta X-370: The shutter won't work

I've taken it to a a few places and they're not sure on how to fix a camera like this. i've tried to get the shutter to work when i want to take a picture, but there never is the sound that it goes off. Is there any way to repair it or some simple way to gently take it apart and make sure that it still does work? I just don't want to take it apart and break something...

i rather enjoy this camera then the new digital ones that sell for way too much.

any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Minolta X-370: Film advance lever stuck

The film advance lever won't move more than 1/2", how do i troubleshoot this problem? Does it have to. Have film in it to advance? Does it have to have the batteries in to have the advance lever move?

Minolta X-370: Shutter curtain only opens half way

When I press the shutter, the curtain only opens half way, which makes my pictures look like "half taken", with a big chunk of blackness on one side. I've never repaired a camera before, so I would appreciate some guidance.

Minolta X-370: My camera's shutter and mirror are sticky.

My camera has had a problem where if it is fired at a shutter speed slower than 1/125th, it has a pretty good chance for the shutter curtain to pop open only about a third of the way, almost completely close, and then the mirror gets stuck up. I can fix this by pushing the shutter all the way closed, and then the mirror will slap down and the camera will work fine. The batteries are fresh and working, the foam bumper for the mirror is the original one, but with absolutely no visible wear to it at all; it's not tacky in any way. Does anyone have any ideas?

If I push down on the top of the lever it will advance, but, clearly something is broken.

My shutter button doesn’t do anything when pressed but when I pull my film advance lever the mirror flips up as if I pressed the shutter button. Anyone know how to fix this?

Minolta X-370: Under range light stuck blinking on Minolta x-370s

Hello! I’ve had my Minolta x-370s for about a year now and it’s always been very realizable and worked no problem. Recently however an issue has cropped up where the under range (downward arrow) on the viewfinder is always flashing no matter what I do with the aperture ring. I have tried replacing the batteries and switching off of auto mode but it hasn’t changed anything. I’m worried due to this issue that the shutter speed isn’t properly adjusting to the lighting in shooting which will lead to overexposed pics (the shutter speed is really really slow currently).

Any suggestions on what could be causing this issue?

Minolta X-370: I can’t see through the viewfinder?

I bought my minolta x-370 online. when i got it, i could see through the viewfinder but the lever was stuck so i figured it needed new batteries. i got new batteries for it, put them in, and i tried to take a picture but something happened and now i can’t see through the viewfinder and the lever is still stuck.

does anyone know why this is happening? is something broken?

I could see through the viewfinder just fine before I added new batteries. Now all I can see is black and the mirror won’t stay down.

When I go to take a picture I hear the shutter sound but all I see is black. I open up the film door and check there is a thin black sheet right behind the film that is not closing all the way. I have put new batteries in.

Minolta X-370: Why won’t my camera turn on?

I recently bought this camera at a local thrift store and got some film for it but was disappointed to find that when I put new batteries in the camera would not turn on. No lights on the viewfinder. No shutter click. I’ve researched a bit and the capacitor was a problem for some people and the symptoms were the same but it looks like someone has already replaced it and it has no wear. I’m beginning to thing this is a problem with the wiring but I wanted to double check that I haven’t missed anything stupid.

Minolta X-370: How can I open up my the cover to switch the corroded batteries?

I had received a Minolta XG-M for Christmas which hasn't been used by my family since the late 80's/ early 90' and as i tried to open up the lid for the batteries i noticed that i couldn't open it. For the last month I've been trying to open it up using coins and screwdrivers but neither of them are working. I assume the batteries are most likely corroded but does anybody have any ideas on what i can do to get it open?
