Microsoft Surface Pro 4: Replaced the screen with a Pro 5 and I can not get the touch to work

I have this Surface Pro 4 where the screen keeps flickering. I read from multiple sources that the issue is that this issue is a problem for Surface Pro 4s and that these sources suggest to replace it with the Surface Pro 5 screen instead.

I have tried this several times over the past three months (as in, I bought a screen off of amazon, didn't work, send it back, repeat like three times) and while I can get the screen itself to display content (at least two out of the three screens), I can never ever get the touch controller to work and at this point, I am thinking that the Surface Pro 4 Touch controller just doesn't work with these surface pro 5 or that these screens off of amazon are all bad quality.

So at this point, I'm not even sure how to get this screen replaced with touch control. Should I try my luck for a fourth time on amazon? Should I try and buy another touch controller?

Microsoft Surface Pro 4: Purpose of X933422-005 Cable?

Hello,

I am working on repairing an old Surface Pro 4, and during the process unfortunately destroyed the X933422-005 flex cable/antenna that is mounted in the top bracket of the device. Here is a link to an example of the part. Mine does look slightly different, as it says "UFK 5115 152 X933422-005" on it. I have also circled the part in the below image.

I am trying to decide if I need to perform some more aggressive repairs, in an attempt to replace that part, or if I can simply live without it. It looks like some sort of antenna, but Bluetooth and Wi-Fi seem to be working, so I am not sure what it's purpose could be.

Thanks!

Hello, all.
I recently purchased a used Surface Pro 4 online. At first when I was using it, it was fine.
Microsoft Surface Pro 4: Screen problems after being replaced

So, I decided to upgrade my SSD. Everything went well; so, I thought. When I put everything back together, I pressed the power button, and nothing happened. I believed the laptop would not turn on. I made sure that all the cables were plugged in and tried it again and everything was in place. I went to turn on the laptop after a few hours and it finally it tuned on. It powered on like normal. I was happy. I noticed that the screen will glitch when the laptop turns off the screen. If left powered on and in sleep mode, most of the time the screen will not turn on, and if it does turn on the screen flickers glitches, and then goes to normal operation. (I believe the first time this happened, I powered on the laptop without the screen plugged in by accident.) I also noticed the touch screen would not work. I decided to switch screens; believing I had damaged it. I bought a new screen, and new cables to make sure I was covered. I did not buy L shaped digitizer. Anyone know what went wrong and how I can fix my laptop?

Microsoft Surface Pro 4: Multiple issues after battery replacement

I have read all of the other threads here regarding battery issues after replacement - but looking for a little additional help.

When first changing the battery and putting it back together I had the issue where the Surface only worked when plugged in, but would turn off if charger removed.

Following some of the different suggestions here I made sure that:

the emi shields were not touching any components

pins on underside of mainboard werent "messed up" and touching battery contacts correctly

tried to check the Schottky Diodes but not sure how to actually read the results that I got - though they seemd to match expected?

did not check fuses

*

And now the best part - the Surface does not work even when plugged in now. Did I mess something up in my investigation?

Two things that I did notice, which could answer my question. The first image shows a component that looks like it was damaged. The second image shows where I had an issue with some thermal paste that went a little wild...

Microsoft Surface Pro 4: Damaged Screen, ribboncables or something else?

Hi everyone!

Recently i attempted the battery replacement of my surface pro 4. Everything went smooth with it, but when i started it up i saw that the screen would stay black. I can see the reflection of the backligth on, but i get no image on the screen. I managed to connect an external monitor and everything else is working fine, although i don't get feedback from the touchscreen either.

Everything points to a screen damaged during the removal but i dont see any problem on the ribbon cables nor on the screen itself in a close visual inspection.

Before purchasing a replacement screen wich are not cheap, i was wondering if i should check anything on the board that could be the cause of the failure.

Any experienced opinion would be greatly appreciated.
