Microsoft Surface Pro 3: Does anyone know where to source replacement digitizers (V1.1?

I recently took apart my Surface pro 3 because my digitizer stopped working because of a small drop it had. I was looking online and couldn't find a replacement digitizer/LCD screen combo for my version (v1.1). I was wondering if it would be possible to use other digitizer versions like a v.5 and if it would still work.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3: Cracked Glass Maybe Digitizer

I have a Surface Pro 3 that just had to fall and thus crack the glass. Now when it boots up, it has touch circles that race up and down the crack as if someone is touching it in that area. However, I am able to do touch on one side of the screen when this happens. Does this mean that just the glass is ncracked or has the digitizer been damaged? I figured that the digitizer is detecting the crack as touch. Do you think a simple glass protector like the Zagg glass ones would pull both sides of the crack back in sync to allow full screen touch again?

Thank you so much for your time,

Microsoft Surface Pro 3: Wont' turn on after screen replacement

Hi

I've just replaced an SP3 screen. I've done a number before without issues.

Prior to replacement the screen was cracked and the display froze on the surface boot logo. Sort of as if the bios were engaging but couldn't find the drive to load up the OS.

prior to removing the screen I waited until the battery was dead and then went ahead. the screen came off relatively easily, no trauma to any cables apart from the digitiser, which was dead anyway. in cleaning the edges of adhesive I tore the copper strip on top of the USB port - but that's replaced now and certainly no damage to the physical port underneath.

I now get no response from the hardware at all. no screen light, but also nothing hardwareish like the fan going or the processor warming etc.

I've tried hard resets and i've tried booting to UEFI and to a usb image. all without any noticeable change. this is not a DOA screen as the old screen is exhibiting the same behaviour.

the charge port works fine. I've measured the voltage of the battery before (7.4v) and after (8.7v) charging and the top right of the tablet gets warm after a chunk of time on charge. the keyboard lights up as well; and is responsive to the caps and Fn keys (the light turns on and off).

any clues about where to search for issues? Anyone know where I can find the circuit schematics to trace the power lines?

My Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has sustained a few cracks. I was able to power it on, but then the touch screen became unresponsive to my touch, although it appears to touch by itself (in the areas where the cracks are).
Microsoft Surface Pro 3: Where can I find a replacement LCD connector bridge-board?

Hi all!

I am helping out at a fellow electronic repair shop and picked up this repair half way though. It looks like who ever opened it before lost the little connector board that fits between the LCD flex cable and the motherboard. The gap created by its absence is too much to bridge with solder, and trying to find this little piece online has proven difficult to say the least. The device is still working in all areas; we were able to take another surface pro 3 apart that we happened to have in the shop (for another customer) and found what was causing the display issues.

Does anyone know where to find the small connector board that sits between the LCD flex and motherboard?

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3: Is my bottom Type Cover Keyboard Slot broken?

I have been unsuccesfully trying to get a type cover to work on my surface pro 3. I know the type cover is not faulty as I have tested it on another surface and it works fine. I have gone through the typical reset, and boot to bios hard reset, with no luck. Cleaned the terminals with rubbing alcohol and even tried the eraser trick. Nothing shows in device manager in reference to a surface cover and I have updated all my windows updates. The keyboard LED light does not even come on. Am I dealing with a defective port? Is this something that can be replaced easily? I have run out of ideas.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3: Why is my touchpad not working - locks my Surface Pro 3

Hi there,

Every time I touch my touchpad (which usually acts as a mouse) on my Surface Pro 3, my screen turns off. It doesn't shut down the whole tablet, it basically just locks it. The mouse icon might move slightly with my finger, but after about a second my screen goes black. I can touch a key on the keyboard to turn the screen back on, and log back in, but if I use my touchpad again the same error happens. So my keys work fine, but my touchpad does not.

I tried to toubleshoot this and held the Power and Up volume buttons for 10 seconds, when I saw a factory re-set type of screen the touchpad worked fine, so I know that it does still work.

Can anyone help me with this? I know I can just touch the screen instead of the pad, but I'm so used to using the touchpad, I'd love to be able to use it again!

Thanks!

Microsoft Surface Pro 3: New Screen, No signs of life.

Hey team. I have a microft surface pro 3 in the store, and i just did a screen replacement on it.

The device wont show an image. I have gotten the charger in. when i plug it in, the LED on the charger turns on, and recognizes that something is there. The device's Logic board gets warm, but not overheating. The fan stays off. The only sign i see of it booting, is that the device lets me charge a phone off of it, even while the surface is unplugged from the AC Adapter.

Ive been fiddling with these little pin pads between the connections for the last hour, thinking that maybe they are just off alignment, but i have started to feel there is something else.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3: Will new v1.1 digitizer work on v1.0 (original)

Hello everyone,

I am new to this community. It's 2017!! I am just wondering if anyone would know the answer to my questions.

So, TL;DR - Will v1.1 work on v1.0 (original)

So my broken LCD screen is LTL120QL01-001 v1.0

On a side note, I noticed that even the LCD has had an update, from 001 to 003 (on eBay), which is not the focus today.

So, I am just wondering will new LTL120QL01-001 v1.1 replacement work on a SP3 that has LTL120QL01-001 v1.0??

Much much appreciated for your help in advanced

Microsoft Surface Pro 3: Type cover/keyboard not working

My Surface Pro4 keyboard/ “type cover” stopped working. I tried it on another identical Surface Pro3 and it worked fine. I’ve been using a Brydge keyboard, which connects via bluetooth and that works fine, but when I snap on the magnetically attached keyboard that came with the Surface Pro it does nothing. It could be a connection problem, but I have cleaned the contacts to no avail.

I have a surface pro 3 that one day decided to not turn on. I charged it for a while, nothing on the screen, no sound. I tried holding the power button in for 15-20 seconds, tried the +volume and power button together, nothing. I ordered a replacement charger and battery. Tried the new charger, no change. I bit the bullet and took the display off (and did crack it, grrrr!). I replaced the battery, still will not power on or show any indication of life. Any idea what I could check, or what it might be?

I get .85V at the battery connection with the charger plugged in. The battery is completely dead.

Update - I replaced the motherboard today with a supposed good motherboard. Still no reaction when pressing the power button or +volume and powerbutton together.

Could a faulty powerbutton cause this? Anyone know what I could short on the motherboard to simulate the power button being pressed?
