Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 (13.5-inch): No power unless I disconnect the keyboard and reconnect it

Hi all

My Surface Laptop 5 has a problem that means if I power it off, to start it back up I need to take the keyboard cover off, disconnect the ribbon cable which connects the keyboard unit to power, then put the ribbon back in and the cover back in place. Then the laptop turns on and I can use it.

Will getting a replacement keyboard cover fix this? This one specifically:

Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 (15-inch): Looking for guide for replacing touchscreen on Surface Laptop 4

Hi,

A few months ago I found a guide on iFixit to replace the touchscreen on my Laptop 4: just the screen itself, not the whole of the lid. It included, for example, guidance on where to place hot pads to soften the glue which holds the touchscreen in place in the lid of the laptop. So I bought a replacement touchscreen. Now I can't find the touchscreen guide on iFixit, but only a guide to replacing the whole of the lid. Can someone point me towards the guide I found before? Thanks.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 (13.5-inch): MS Laptop 5 doesn't Power up

Bought a Surface Laptop 5 13.5 last year in Sandstone colour, and was in a backpack with a water bottle (you can guess what happened ;(

MS Canada just returned it...no explanation, no suggestions, just returned it when I sent it in for service under warranty.

Doesn't boot, tried Power button and F4 for 20 seconds, tried to let the battery drain, still nothing...been a year and the poor device is still sitting here collecting dust, tempting me to try and fix one last time. It charges no problem, the Windows logo flashes a few times, but can never get past the Win logo.

is it salvageable or just good for parts?

Anyone in the Fraser Valley / Vancouver area fix these ?

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3: Keyboard 1868 German Black-Metal needed

Hi folks, I am looking for a keyboard for my Microsoft Laptop 3 1868 Black-Metal with German keyboard (not Switzerland/Luxembourg or USA). Microsoft won't tell me if it's still available anywhere. I could send the device in (takes too long). I only found it on ebay in China (too risky). The ifixit community is my last option (before buying a new device [because of a defect keyboard...]). By the way, only a few keys (1,2,3,4,ß,q,w,e,r,...) work badly and a cleaning would not help, said Microsoft? Many thanks for your comments! Seb

Microsoft Surface Laptop 7: Touchpad goes berserk when I slide finger to the right (2/3 of the way

Hey everyone,

I have a surface laptop 7 and my touchpad is going crazy. I was recently proposed by a pop-up window to select the division between touchpad that would be dedicated to right click only. I decided to try it out thinking I could just change it afterwards, but now it seems like there is no option to change it back. The division is causing all sort of problems, like my mouse goes all over the place when I pass this division line, and the touchpad becomes stiff on the click and starts to click and move everywhere sporadically. I don't find any place where the division line can be set back to normal. The device driver is up to date. The option to divide the touchpad area is no longer available anywhere I've looked. I wonder if it was a new function added to windows 11 which then got removed after another update. Otherwise, this could also mean the touchpad is defective and needs replacement, but there seems to be no touchpad available for replacement on the iFixit site.

Any help or recommandations for troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
