Microsoft Surface Book Keyboard: Spilled drink over keyboard and now the fan is always at full speed

2 days ago I spilled accidentally a drink over my Surface Book keyboard (i5 with performance base) covering almost the left half of it. I tried my best to suck as much drink as I could. Unfortunately the drink had some coke or Pepsi on it, so that probably didn't help.

Right after this happened, the backlight stopped working, the USB were trying to connect and disconnect to a non existing device and the keyboard stopped working for a few minutes, then worked again, and so on. I turned it off and then tried it again yesterday. These last 2 days, there are no longer any of the issues mentioned before and the keyboard seems to be working fine besides the fact that there are some sticky keys, although I can manage living with it all things considered.

However, since yesterday the keyboard fan kicks in as soon as I turn on the laptop. Even when I detach the screen from the keyboard, it is working until I turn the device off. I measured the temp of the GPU and it's never over 30 as I'm not using it (just some browsing), so I wonder what's making the fan be at full speed at all times.

I would have no problema on taking it to Microsoft for repair and pay whatever they charge, but I live in Argentina so it'll be a while until I go back to the US. So anyone know what might be going on and if there's a chance to repair it myself?

Fun (?) fact. I bought it 5 days ago. Kill me now.

Microsoft Surface Book Keyboard: Bent charging port - should I buy a $100 replacement keyboard case?

After a fall, the metal around my charging port got bent in (see the picture)

because the charging cable was plugged in and it hammered in a portion of the metal casing. The port works, you just have to fiddle with it quite a bit in order to make it connect.

I was thinking, is it worth it to buy the following replacement metal casing:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Replacement-B...

and transfer all the hardware into it?

Specifically, I have three doubts/questions:

From the ebay listing, can you guys figure out whether they're selling the whole casing (back and front) or only the front/keyboard part?

Does the ebay item linked above look to you 100% equivalent to the original Microsoft part (same metal alloy, same quality keys etc.)? If not, where can I find an adequate replacement (I didn't find the piece on ifixit)?

Is the replacement really hard? I see the device is rated 1 out of 10 in ifixit's repairability rating, and I don't want to damage it further…

Thanks and all the best!

Microsoft Surface Book Keyboard: I spilled sweet tea on my keyboard and now its glitching

I'm a relative novice regarding laptop repair. I've replaced heatsinks, batteries, and hard drives. I spilled sweet tea on my keyboard last week and I panicked. I wiped up the liquid on the surface of the keyboard and held it upside down for just a few moments, all the while it was on. It worked fine for the rest of he evening, but has been malfunctioning since. I let dry out for about 24 hours, but given that I'd already used the laptop, I believed that the damage was already done. The screen works fine, except for the bluetooth, which doesn't currently turn-on. The mousepad works fine. The keyboard however, is acting crazy. Some keys work fine, while others don't. Some keys I hit will produce seven other random letters. While others will repeat a sequence of letters without end. I'm using a usb keyboard to type this. I don't know what to do. It is under Microsoft's basic/standard warranty.

I believe any kind of repair is above my pay grade and I've grown to distrust local repair shops. I sense it may be better to sell it for as is, and just buy a new, or used one on Ebay. What do you think? Should I try to repair? Should I go to a local shop and trust they can fix it without charging me hundreds of hours in labor? Or, sell as is and just by another one.

Microsoft Surface Book Keyboard: Dented area around Surface Book charging jack, now it won't charge

So I bought a Microsoft Surface Book i5 128 GB model for college, right? And a few days ago, I dropped it on its side and it just so happened to create a small dent on the charging dock. Now, when I plug it in, it doesn't charge. I cleaned the connectors, and inside the jack, and I can't get a consistent charge. If I wiggle around the connector for a bit, sometimes the charging light flickers, but it never stays for very long, which leads me to believe that maybe the whole thing isn't busted and it's just the dent that's preventing the contact points from really touching.

Picture is right here: https://imgur.com/a/JV1D4

I took it the Microsoft store and they told me that my warranty doesn't cover physical damage and that I needed to pay $599 for a replacement model, which means I'd lose everything that's currently on my SSD. I said screw that and took it to a repair shop, and they told me there wasn't a way to manually separate the clipboard from the base (which by then the Surface Book was dead and could not detach anything) and they couldn't do anything to help me. Lo and behold, I poked around online and found a way to release the magnetic lock manually, so now I have just the clipboard charging and I'm SOL with the keyboard base.

I was wondering if there was anything I could do to remedy this, because there's next to no one that sells just the base for the Surface Book. Thanks!
