Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 and 5000: Wireless devices (keyboards and mice) and lost usb dongles...

Hi:

I (and perhaps you) have encountered many situations in which wireless devices requiring a usb transceiver are missing their transceiver. People seem to lose them or throw them away, or leave them in ports when they pass on their laptops and PCs. Such devices are completely unusable without their specific transceiver. The transceivers alone are either 'unobtanium' or ludicrously expensive to buy. Question: Would it be possible to read/decipher the signal used and replicate it using a cheap 'generic' usb dongle as a substitute? Just spitballing here...for you inventive types this could be a nice little moneymaker.

Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 and 5000: How find and re-pair aftermarket USB transceiver for an MS 5000 mouse?

MS 5000 mouse transceiver lost. With no replacement available from Microsoft there has got to be hundreds if not thousands of these laying around in desk drawers. I'm an electronics technician, not an EE. Why has no one programmed a PIC or similar to put this equipment back in service.

Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 and 5000: Why is this mouse always hard to clean?

I like to use this mouse, but no matter how well I clean the outside cover, it is always gummy and sticky, even though my hands are clean! I use soap, oil or whatever to remove the gummy, sticky feeling on the cover (the black area on both sides of gray area) and still it feels sticky to the touch! I hate that feeling, because nothing keeps it smooth in texture.

How or what do I use to have a clean, yet not sticky feeling to the touch? help!

Microsoft Surface Dial: Microsoft surface book 3 power panel on top found two cracks

Dear sir, I have been using Microsoft surface book 3 for the last 7 months, and it’s still in warranty, but I found some cracks on the top close to the power panel.

Being an Aerospace engineer in my opinion these creaks were found due to stress because of load impact. that is a drawback of this machine.

Without removing the LCD screen, it is possible that it could be changed and fit a new panel because I don’t want to remove the complete LCD.

Do you have an idea regarding the replacement of the system with a new one because my system is on a warranty?

Thanks

Microsoft Mouse: Microsoft laser mouse (has wire) stops working after a while.

This mouse worked well for a long time and suddenly it would stop working. After unplugging for a long time or rebooting the computer it would work again. I tried it on a different computer and it did the same thing. It was working for 2 days and then stopped working. After the Microsoft laser/optical mouse stopped working I plugged in the track ball mouse I usually use with this laptop it was not working either. It always works so it appears to be a driver issue possibly. The touch pad on the laptop still works. These both use a USB connection. Looking at the device and driver information through control panel it says everything if working. I am 95% confident that if I reboot the computer both of them will work again.
