I recently wanted to reboot it just to have a dumb phone, so I charged it and showed no vital signs. Then I bought a new battery, I started it did a very short vibration, the window logo appeared on the screen for couple seconds, then black; I let it charge but anything changed.

When I plug the charger, still nothing happens, when I try to turn it on it still vibrates for a moment but nothing else happens: no window logo anymore, no anything.

I know I can reset it to factory settings but I would like it to restart it as it was just to keep few of the apps I had (specially an audio recording app and the file manager: lumia OS sucks without a dedicated app for that) and I fear that if I restore the factory settings I will struggle finding that apps still on the store.

In general, I think this is a good question about the replacement of the display about any kind of mobile phone.

I was recovering some data from this old well-working Nokia Lumia 820 (people should always recover one's memories) and I broke the display accidentally.

I have replaced the display. The display and the digitizer are working properly, some apps are working but someone else aren't working anymore.

It is necessary to take some precautions when replacing a hardware component. In fact, the hardware could work properly but something could happened to the software, that I don't know.

Moreover, the mobile phone keeps only the date and the hour predefined in the firmware, each time I switch off and on again the phone.

edit:if it matters , it also came in contact with water a while back but after a few days it started working properly again, it was dropped a couple of times too... It's lived a rough life :(

now it does not turn on, no display, only vibrates when I put it on charge or try to switch it on...

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: 9/6/2016. 10 am Eastern -

I have tried soft reset - hard reset - nothing happend.

Also tried windows mobile recovery tool - it doesnt recognize the device.. no help again..

Finally took it to the nearest Microsoft support center, they kept the phone with them for couple of days and then returned it back to me saying it cannot be repaired.. i have searched many website for an answer but i only see ppl having similar problems without an answer.

if anyone comes across any solutions do let me know.. until then this lumia is nothing more than a brick.
