Shure SM58: As new Shure SM58 not working

The microphone is, in as new condition, and has been kept in the dust free zipper case that it came in...I used it a couple of times, more than five years ago and it has been in storage since then.

It's not a lead problem as I have used a different mic to prove the lead is working...I have also tried a little WD40 on the connector in case of corrosion...

I'm wondering if the diaphragm may be stuck due to inactivity? Is that a thing, I don't know.

Oddly I have a Beyer microphone (also as new and unused for many years) that seems to have the same problem.

Any suggestions would be very welcome...

Thank you

Microphone: Would a Converter usb to 3.5mm work also for my Canon camera?

which connects to my Mac through usb cable (micro usb on mic and usb to Mac). I want to use it on my canon 750D which has a 3.5mm input for microphone

. Would a converter „usb-female to 3.5mm male“ work? Or a just a cable „micro usb male to 3.5mm male“? (Microphone has no separate cable for power supply).

Hey folks,

I have a SM58 that sounds well and works just fine when installed on a stand. When handheld though, it transmits rumble. Touching the ceramic(?) part of the microphone creates a bassy percussive sound like “bung”.

Do you have an idea what might be broken or how to solve it?

Macbook Pro mid-2015

MacOS 10.16.4 + Windows 10 Home (Dualbooted; issue is present on both OS)

Using a 1 to 4 usb hub (but tried it directly plugged into the macbook’s usb port)

Tried uninstalling the drivers and even uninstalling the entire device (Windows)

Tried different ports on the usb hub as well.

Tried using Audacity to ensure it wasn’t the software (Discord) causing the issue.

Sony ECM-MS907: Does Sony build compatibility issues with other brands?

I was recommended the sony ecm-ms907 microphone so i bought one to use with a cannon video recorder. I was impressed with it but after some use, the it lost most of the volume on one of the channels. I bought another one and after some use the same thing happened to the new one. I was told that Sony has compatibility issues with the use of its products with other brands. Is this a fact? If so is there another microphone that you can recommend that is as good as the sony ecm-ms907 and will work with any brand? If not, is there something that i might be doing to cause this issue?
