Meta Quest 2: Why does my meta quest show boot screen but then go to blank screen

So when I turn on my headset it shows a booting screen (the one with the meta logo) and then it spins around 8-12 times and then it goes to a grey screen. I’ve tried side-loading updates and everything in the menu that you get to with vol down and power. Nothings working.

I have a Meta Quest 2 that suddenly stopped working during use. I looked it over, and there was a decent amount of sweat on the device which I suspect was the reason it died due to no other physical damage and not having been dropped, etc.

After wiping it down and drying it off as much as possible, I tried turning it on again by pressing the power button. The power light turns on, and after some time the front of the headset gets warm. However, nothing shows on the display, it remains black the entire time and no audio can be heard.

I have disassembled the device down to the midframe and didn't see anything concerning on the mainboard or any connectors. There was a bit of corrosion on some copper tape stuck on the backside of the display assembly on the top.

I'm wondering whether the problem is likely with the motherboard or the display assembly and how I could test it without another set of parts to verify. There are some relatively cheap display assemblies available on eBay but it would be nice to know for certain before buying anything.

I followed the steps above, including rebooting and performing a factory reset, but I still encounter the notification:

"SYSTEM ALERT
The cooling fan on your device is not functioning properly. Your headset may become warm or behave abnormally.
Please try rebooting. If the issue persists, contact customer support: https://meta.com/help/support/"

I tested the device and the fan is still working, but the headset only lasts 20 minutes before turning off. I would appreciate any support, as I am considering repairing the mainboard, though I don't have experience with this product.

When I'm playing a game like vr chat on my oculus it randomly goes gray and then later on turns black and after moving my head a few times in different directions it goes back to the vr chat game I'm playing. Is there a way to stop it from doing that fully?

My left controller wont stop pairing and disconnecting after I took it apart to repair the stick drift. It no longer drifts. The light on it goes on and blinks then stops for a while then blinks again and the controller disconnects. I've tried new batteries.

Two of the black plastic clasps on the motherboard are broken. (Proximity and one next to it).

Can these be replaced or the leads attached by another method, or does the motherboard need to be replaced?

My unit has been plugged in for roughly 24 hours now. It alternates from a red solid light to a red flashing light. I've tried dozens of steps to force charge the unit. Everything from different plugs or charging cables. Cleaning the ports and trying to both soft and hard reset the unit. I am unable to turn the unit on even when plugged in and am at the stage that I would factory reset the unit if I could. Is there anything I can do to resolve the charging issue?

I have a question 2 that will not charge or power on, I have replaced the battery, and it still would not turn on or show any light. I hooked up a voltmeter and ammeter, with the battery disconnected it shows 5.16v and 0.15a. With the battery connected it reads 5.27v with 0a.

The backlights will randomly dim and turn off while in use, and I’m guessing it’s an issue with the cable. It starts having problems only after around 10 minutes of use so after a break it works like it should. I’ve looked at the guide to strip down the headset but it only seems to take off the entire lense assembly and not go any further

Hello, I have had my Quest 2 for 2 years with no major problems, I let it sit for 6 ish months, came back to it, and now the volume buttons (specifically the volume up button) press itself at random times for a few seconds at a time. Everything else works mostly ok, the controllers have drift but that's a whole other problem. The volume buttons still function.

Hi my controller was glitch some so I took it apart slowly and carefully not breaking anything and cleaned it with a q tip that’s all but once I put it back together it won’t turn on I did again with a different controller nothing breaking and doesn’t turn on is there’s something that I need to do differently or is it just bad luck I didn’t put all the way back together is that a problem?
