Theragun Elite: Anyone completed a battery repair/replacement?

Anyone completed a battery repair/replacement?

Mine has just stopped taking charge.

Oh, the on button is broken as well...

EDIT:

It's the Theragun Elite (https://www.therabody.com/uk/en-gb/elite...) from a few years back - there is no swappable battery. Will post pictures tomorrow.

EDIT 31/12/2024

Still not completely given up and still massively encouraged and grateful for commenters so far - thank you.

Found this page that shows the battery in question but I can't read the langauge so no idea...I can't find a replacement battery, sadly.

Theragun: How do I open the case on the Theragun Elite to access the battery?

Hi everyone, I've come here for some help fixing a Theragun Elite.

To give you the backstory, as this may help out others, I bought this as a gift for my wife, but the device would not take a charge. We returned this to the retailer who exchanged it for another new device, but that had the same fault. Looks like there are hundreds of them with dud batteries.

Having done our research this is a really common fault and we were advised by the manufacturer that it would be best to replace with them directly.

What they did was send us out a brand new unit, directly and asked us to "dispose" of the faulty one. That doesn't seem like the right thing to do, so I wanted to see if I could do a repair on this and then give this to a family member.

However, I can't get much further than this (see pics)

I don't want to wreck the casing any more than I have done already. Any suggestions with annotations and arrows would be very helpful :)

Theragun Elite: How to shock batteries

My theragun elite isn't working, and I'm pretty sure it's a battery problem. The device will charge from 0% to 33%, but once unplugged... it's back down to 0% (it doesn't turn on, claims to be out of battery, and shows 0% when plugged back in).

The device hasn't been used much. I think I threw it into a cupboard at 0% a long time ago, and it's been sitting there for 2+ years.

I've disassembled the device and found what looks like three battery cells with soldered wires. I'm familiar with the concept of 'shocking' rechargable batteries to fix them - e.g. connecting a bad empty AA rechargable battery with a full AA battery, using two wires, to fix the bad battery.

I'm hoping the problem here is similar to a bad AA rechargable, and can be fixed with a similar process. Unfortunately I don't really have much experience with electronics and not really sure how to proceed here. Hoping for some advice...

Is it possible to shock these batteries to life WITHOUT having to cut and re-solder things?

I don't have the equivalent or skills to solder anything :(

Can I take a good battery and just use a wire to connect the - end to the exposed metal end (top picture), and the + end to the metal in between the two batteries (bottom picture) ?

What kind of good battery should I use?

I've previously revived dead AAs using a good AA... but am I going to need a bigger battery here? If so, how big of a battery do I need?

I'm guessing a single good AA isn't going to have enough 'juice' to fix these three bigger batteries.

Safety concerns

When shocking AAs, I just hold the wire with my finger. (e.g. as shown in this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sujrpwjt... you just use your finger to press a wire against the end of a battery).

Should I take care to not touch any of the exposed metal / wires when I do this, because these batteries are bigger?

I'm willing to buy some things, if there are cheap things/tools that will make this a lot easier to fix.

I'm not interested to buy replacement batteries. This isn't about the money, but rather because of the way all the wires are soldered onto the batteries, I don't think I will be able to make replacement batteries work (i.e. get all the wires connected in the correct way, etc.)

Thanks heaps!

Theragun Mini: Thereagun Mini (2022) Dead Battery?

My wife has a Theragun Mini from 2022 that no longer turns on and/or holds a charge. So of course, I came to iFixit for the teardown and I was sad to see there wasn't one.

Does anyone have a repair or tear-down guide for the 2022 what I guess is the original Theragun mini?

I found this video here which showed the result of cracking open the case. However, it doesn't show him putting it back together. HA!) You can hear him describe his theory as to the battery type possibly being three Panasonic 3400mAh batteries run in series (based on the tennis ball yellow/green color). He later reads a part number "31NR19/66" which unfortunately come in a range of sizes. And finally, he mentions that "they look like 18650s to me" which seem like a technical form factor.

While I'm not surprised that a 4 year old electronics product has died, I am very disappointed in Therabody for designing a product so aggressively anti-serviceable by an owner or third party.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Theragun Mini: Power button doesn't work

I just got a new Theragun Mini and have it fully charged, but pushing the power button to turn on doesn't do anything. I have held it down for longer periods of time to try and still nothing. Has anyone opened one of these up yet? I'm thinking the power button is either junk or misaligned inside.
