Everything was fine previously ( unless grandkids have dropped it lol) No LED showing but the power button is free and easy, not stuck at all.
Magic Trackpad: Magic Trackpad just died

that's it, really. my Magic Trackpad died; I've not done anything exciting with it; regularly replaced batteries, not anything obvious to see; but it's not powering up when I press it on, so I'm suspicious it's something power related. Any ideas on how to trouble shoot/repair it. I'm bereft as I love it a lot and use it all the time!!

Magic Trackpad: Is there a way to bring this device back to life?

I purchased this trackpad over a year ago and have used it daily since. The item was never dropped or damaged, but the other day it just stopped working. I click the power button and nothing happens. No green LED, no connection to my MacBook.

I replaced the batteries several times and tried cleaning the contacts for the batteries inside the device. Nothing has worked. Apple support recommended I take the item in to an Apple store so they can "look at it", but before they try to sell me a new one, I'm wondering if anyone has had success in reviving these devices after they die.

Thanks

Magic Trackpad: The pointer only moves vertically.

To be more precise there's only a narrow vertical band of the trackpad responding. Touching outside of this, central, band has no effect on the pointer.

I tried connecting it to another MacBook but with the same result. I’ve also tried to remove batteries and replace them with new ones and also to completely disconnect it but nothing.

Magic Trackpad: Magic Trackpad Not Tracking Correctly

Hi

I have a Magic Trackpad original. Recently it has stopped tracking accurately - if I move my finger around on the trackpad, the cursor responds intermittently. I have installed new batteries, which the iMac recognises as 100% charged.

Clicking works fine. Dragging and selecting suffer the same problems as tracking (i.e., the trackpad recognises multiple fingers, but the tracking errors persist).

Now the tricky bit. If I lightly touch the aluminium at the top of the trackpad, above the glass trackpad proper, with one finger then the trackpad begins to function properly and track accurately!

It's not the iMac causing the problem - I have connected the trackpad to two other devices (2012 15" MacBook Pro; 2015 13" MacBook Pro) and the symptoms persist. I have also connected a Logictech T651 to all three computers, which works just fine.

I think that it is something to do with earthing. I have rested a small ointment jar on the same place I touch - which is heavy enough to apply similar/greater pressure than I do with my finger - and that makes no difference.

Any clues?

Cheers

Magic Trackpad: battery acid has damaged my devices

I had old-style batteries (the ones with acid) in my track pad and it stopped working. I opened the battery slot and found that one of the batteries leaked acid, some of which became stuck on the wall of the slot. I tried cleaning it out as best as I could, but it doesn't work now that I've replaced the old defective batteries with fresh ones.

And to make things worse, the same has happened with my wireless keyboard and the battery that's in deepest is stuck and I haven't found any kind of tool that can pull it out.

Any suggestions, or do I have to spring for new devices?

Magic Trackpad: battery acid damaged batt-compartment - how to restore?

Hi together,

I own a Apple Magic Trackpad, where the batteries ran out and damaged the battery compartment.

I removed the batteries and cleaned the battery compartment. Now, the batteries have a little bit axial play (2mm?), so I have to put some metal spacer in between. And the Trackpad is only working sporadically, I suggest a bad contact problem.

When I look into the battery compartment, I only see a elastic radial spacer and a (always corroding) center contact.

Does someone has any suggestion, how to resurrect the trackpad? Is there any part missing in the battery compartment? A spring maybe?
