Magic Mouse 2: Fixing Magic Mouse 2 which stopped working on some normal surfaces

Hi,

Up until yesterday everything was fine, my Apple Magic Mouse 2 was working correctly on all surfaces.

Suddenly, the Magic mouse has stopped working on most regular surfaces and almost all fabrics (moving the mouse may move the cursor a little bit on these surfaces).

It does work on a transparent nylon, a very soft fabric (EDIT: 100% polyester) and on a leather couch and a specific part of my bare knee. (everything else like touch gestures works).

What is the reason for this? the optical sensor?

I already tried cleaning the optical sensor with a cloth, connecting it to another mac and removing the mouse preferences files with no luck.

Thanks :)

Magic Mouse 2: Repairing Two Faulty Magic Mouse version 2s

I have two Magic Mouse version 2s that I recently purchased on eBay. When they arrived, both were broken. They were promptly replaced with working mice by the seller, but I'd like to fix the two that aren't working for use by other members of my family. The eBay seller did not want the two mice with issues back - they told me just to keep them.

One is in perfect condition but will not charge. How do I figure out if it is the battery or the mouse motherboard itself? The external parts of the mouse are in perfect condition.

The other mouse charges but has the top portion separated from the bottom. I opened it up to discover that the pegs that hold the parts together have broken. I tried gluing it back together and the "click" inside the mouse inconsistently works. How should I proceed to repair this?

Magic Mouse 2: Magic Mouse 2 is no longer working after 2 years. Battery?

Aloha from Maui.

I pulled out my magic mouse 2 last week to use with my laptop.

-Apparently dead

-LEDs on the bottom never turn on

-My guess is that the internal rechargeable battery has died after 2-3 years.

-Since I have nothing to lose, can I open it up and try to swap in a new battery?

-Where do I get a battery for that device?

Thank you,

Magic Mouse 2: Cannot on - cannot detect device in bluetooth MacBook

My magic mouse 2 can't turn on (I think) even though it's been charged for a long time. And the MM2 can't be detected in the macbook pro bluetooth. Other devices are ok.

Magic Mouse 2: Cursor not moving properly

I have bought this mouse around 3 years ago. It worked perfectly well until I accidentally dropped it on a hardwood floor. Since then the cursor won't move well and would move and stop when I move it around. Before dropping it it would work well and I could move it around and it would not get stuck or glitch. Now it's so hard to use it that I started using my trackpad. When I shake it I hear something moving inside it. I need help! This thing cost $100, and I don't want to cause my mom a burden. Anyway, I can fix it myself or is it possible for a technician to fix it?

Magic Mouse 2: connected and indicates its charging, HOWEVER, it's not charging?

I connect my Magic Mouse 2 either, into my Macbook or powerbrick, with the switch in the on position to initiate charging, my Mac indicates it is charging by displaying a battery with a lightning bolt. However, the battery percentage does not increase. My mouse is 2+/- years old and I bought it directly from my local Apple store. Everywhere on the interwebs tells me to "unplug it and replug it", "unpair the device", and " try turning it off and then on again" but these are CRAPPY suggestions and those people are idiots.

Is my battery farcooked? is it worth me replacing it? or should I just switch to a better non Apple wireless mouse???

Magic Mouse 2: Magic Mouse 2: Right-click not working after contact with liquid.

A glass of juice spilled some liquid on the Magic Mouse 2. Since then the right-click does not work anymore. The mouse connects to the mac, left-click and scrolling is working, but not the right-click. I also tried turned right-click off and on in system settings. Context menus pop up when putting them on the left-button, so I'm sure it's the hardware, not something in MacOS. I opened the mouse following the battery exchange guide and cleaned a little dust out. Couldn't see anything indicating a damage or liquid remains, sticky parts, corrosion etc. Closed it, no change. Any idea what I could try or do I have to throw it away? The mouse is useless without right-click for me.

Magic Mouse 2: How can I open the Magic Mouse 2 without tearing it apart/ungluing it

I had this question since I was following the MM2 teardown in iFixit and it basically seemed as if you had to destroy the mouse in order to go in and clean it.

To answer my own question (and I just did this and it worked), you can just stick a spudger in the sides and twist to open 4 clips around the edges and then the top pops off just like that.

I went in and cleaned everything with isopropyl alcohol and it seemed to fix my issue of not sensing gestures/phantom gestures.
