Macbook Air M2 2022: MacBook Air M2 (MBA M2) high noise/ hinge clicks while fully open the

Hi. I have an issue(?) with my MBA M2 hinges.

The right hinge clicks when I fully open or adjust my MacBook lid. This noise can disappear after 2-3 clicks, but when I close the lid and fully open my laptop again the click sound is still here. I am out of returning period, but I still have an international one year warranty. I’ve owned MBP with M1 before and it also had the same problem with the right hinge. I’ve also had a lid replacement on my previous MacBook but the problem returned the next couple days after the repair. Some AASP in my country (Ukraine) said that it was normal, other said that there’s could be an issue with WI-FI antenna.

These two MacBooks have completely different design but the problem is still the same.

Is there any Apple engineers? Could you please explain why it happens exactly with the right hinge? Does Apple fix such an issue? What can I do if the problem returns after the repair over and over?

I also can hear a loud pop noise that sounds like rubber. It comes from the right hinge when I open the lid.

Macbook Air M2 2022: Keyboard & trackpad not working after display removal

Hey gang, total beginner here but having fun learning. So, I "decapitated" a spare 13" M2 Macbook Air to use as a "slab book" with my Vision Pro. And by decapitate I mean I removed the display per the guide HERE

It worked great, was super portable and I can AirPlay to TVs, my Vision Pro, etc. After tinkering, I reassembled everything (minus the display) and now the following is happening:

The M2 Air boots and connects to an external display via USB-C

Keyboard does not register clicks at login or any screen.

Trackpad doesn't register.

Nor does "force touch" seem to be in effect on the trackpad. There's no "click" feeling.

After about 5-10 seconds, the unit goes to sleep.

I've double-checked all the connections inside and everything that I disconnected during the display removal was reconnected, minus the display ribbon (since it's a headless Macbook Air now).

Any thoughts on what might be causing the listed issues above? I'm slightly suspicious of the Lid Angle Sensor possible getting damaged, but would that explain the keyboard & the trackpad not clicking or registering and the unit sleeping after 5-10 seconds?

Thanks so much!

Macbook Air M2 2022: Is anyone else having issues with the bottom screen bezel cracking?

I've had a few devices come across my desk recently that have had cracked bezels. At the moment the educated guess is that both users may have had something sitting on top of their device that may have caused the bezel to come into contact with the corner of the bottom case.

However, I am curious if anyone else has seen this issue, or experienced it happen to them first hand? It does seem that people are discussing it on Apple's Community Page, so at the very least I know that these are not isolated issues.

Macbook Air M2 2022: Removing fractured glass bezel

Apple replaces the whole screen in this case, which is a large waste of resources (I am not replacing screen, I am just replacing the bottom strip that protects the flex cables). Problem is the flex cables are right under the bezel, so clearly any wrong poke into them would break them and cause a full screen replacement to be necessary. I was thinking of doing [something like this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrQM4EZO...), only the model is different so I am concerned I may break something without realising since I assume the design is the same as the model shown in the video. Any experience / suggestions? So far all the repair shops I've been to just want to replace my entire screen, yet M2 Macbook Air bezel replacements cost 15 bucks on Ebay.

P.S. The teardowns I've seen only show the parts connected to motherboard, but don't attempt to dismantle the screen.

Macbook Air M2 2022: Trackpad and keyboard not working even after disconnecting LAS

I'm working on a macbook for a friend, and as far as I'm aware there was no liquid damage or anything, but the trackpad and keyboard are not working. I already have a nerd.tool.1 for another thing I was working on, and it is reporting the lid angle sensor (LAS) as open even when the lid is closed.

If this was an issue with the LAS though, I would assume the keyboard and trackpad would start working after disconnecting it, though they still have no response. No click on the trackpad, no keyboard input.

Could it still be the lid angle sensor even if the problem remains after disconnecting it?

Macbook Air M2 2022: Hinges noise/ click from the top case and sticky bottom plate/topcase

Hello. I’ve had 2 warranty screen replacements and now I can hear such noise from the hinges. It mostly comes from the left hinge. I don’t think that it can be rubber because this noise won’t disappear when I open the lid few times in the row. The lid also seems a bid misaligned, you probably won’t notice it. AASP engineer couldn’t hear it in the office, even though it was quiet there.

When the lid was open for awhile (15-30 minutes) I can hear kind of noise (click) when I close the lid. This click comes from the left hinge.

When I turn on my MacBook after being turned off/in a sleep mode for awhile it makes tick noise from the topcase. The noise is still here when you turn off and turn on MacBook immediately, but it’s only noticeable when you put your ear close to the top case.

MacBook’s bottom plate makes sticky sound when I easily press it.

AASP basically doesn’t see my problems. Some AASP would say that it’s cosmetic or every MacBook has it. I don’t have any Apple Store in my country, so they can’t make a refund or replacement. I’m just a bit sensitive to such noises and they bother me. I’ve also read threads about similar issues and people in the comments say that they don’t have any issues.

I really don’t know what to do 🫤

Macbook Air M2 2022: How to clean sticky keys?

Spilt hot chocolate (about 20ml) on my laptop a little less than 12 hours ago. Instantly flipped the laptop over and dried it off, left it in the tent position overnight + a few hours. I can’t afford to check the hardware internally unfortunately, so am sticking to just cleaning the keys as they are now sticky. Can’t find out how to clean the keyboard anywhere! I can try isopropyl alcohol spray but if worse comes to worst, how can I take the keys out? Also, is it really worth taking my laptop in for a diagnosis? Around 150AUD just to inspect it.
