Mac mini Late 2018: Looking to identify component(s) that burned or blew on my mac mini

Hey guys, My 2018 mac mini has been known to be super hot but recently (That I noticed at least) it has been thermal throttling like crazy to an unbearable crawl. I tried to use an app to put the fan and full boar but it didn't seem to do anything. I decided to open it up to see if the fan died. After I opened it and tested it to confirm the fan does indeed not spin I pull it off and noticed a couple or at least 1 scorched component. Can you guys help me identify the component i think thats the reason the fan is not being powered.

Mac mini Late 2018: Mac mini stuck in boot loop after Sequoia upgrade

I’m working on a 2018 Mac mini (i7, 16GB RAM, 2TB SSD) that’s stuck in a boot loop following an upgrade to macOS Sequoia.

Sometimes it reaches the desktop before crashing, other times it crashes during login.

I’ve reset PRAM/NVRAM, booted in Safe Mode, and run Apple Diagnostics (no hardware issues).

Disk Utility shows no errors, and I’m currently attempting a macOS reinstall without success.

The issue started after the upgrade, but I don’t have full details since this is a client’s machine.

Any insights on next steps? Would a clean install or T2 DFU restore be necessary?

Mac mini Late 2018: Any way to tell if overvoltage occurred?

This night, after a thunder strike my Mac Mini 2018 shut down, and my display said "No Signal". I turned it back on a minute later or so and yet I can not detect damage.

I wonder if it was a brief outage or overvoltage. I have a power strip connected to a wall outlet, and all my devices are connected to this strip.

I looked for previous shutdown causes/codes.

Actually, I managed to find the shutdown code which is -3

According to this:

https://cdn.utf9k.net/questions/macos-ch...

-3 indicates thermal issues.

Just for grins, I pulled the power strip off the wall socket to see what shutdown code would I get, and interestingly I again got shutdown code -3.

Do these indicate that brief outage was a more likely cause than a power surge?

Mac mini Late 2018: Mac Mini 2018 No Power

Hi all, I’ve got a dead Mac Mini. I have confirmed the power supply is not the issue, outputting 12V via 7 pins which is as expected for this model.

In this case I am sure that the Mac i3 is functioning and that the Dell Optiplex Moniter is also functional; there is no USB port on the Moniter.

Previously I had an Apple A1347 Mac Mini running with a Vodafone Router and I am using the same cables now, but there is no responce from the Moniter, the Dell Self Test only appears and moves around on the screen.

The ethernet cable is functioning on my PC and I also use a Net Gear Prosafe GS105 with cross over cables on the PC.

I now have a Shell Energy Router DGA0122NLK and I am not absolutely sure if I am using the correct ports on it as not much details were sent, but it works for my Viglen Genie PC.
