I have a question about upgrading the storage on the new Mac Mini M4. I bought the base model. I have the 2T SSD card upgrade on the way from store.m4-ssd.com. I haven’t even turned on the mini yet. I am confident that I can switch out the SSD physically. But I am unclear about how to get the 2T SSD card to work. I don’t have an extra Mac lying around to use Apple Configurator. I do have a Surface Pro running windows. Can I restore the Mac mini from iTunes? The surface has 2 x USB-C® with USB 4.0 / Thunderbolt 4. So I would just have to download iTunes, run iTunes when I and connect the Mac mini to the surface pro, and turn on the mini in DFU mode. Do I have these steps right?

Or is the only way to do this is with another Mac?

I usually switch my monitor between my Mac and PC. One night, my Mac mini’s screen wouldn’t turn on—I thought it was just asleep, but it wasn’t.

I thought the storage becomes faulty since I upgrade it but I tried using the original storage but I got the same result.

Here’s my situation: after plugging in the power, the Mac mini’s light keeps glowing on and off. When I press the power button, there’s no chime or response—just the same pulsing light. The dock station connected to my Mac mini isn’t turning on—there’s no light on my mouse.

Here’s the thing I have tried.

I hold the power button to turn it off. Then I press it after again. I can hear the chime and there’s white light glowing for a while after a several mins the light will turn to blinking red.
I have successfully “revive” the original storage but still the same result.

Also I just found out that the dock station slot I use to connect my Mac has a blinking light, which means it’s having trouble maintaining proper conductivity. The other slot works fine. Also only the mouse is connected to the dock station so believe I'm not overloading on it too.

Hi! I opened my Mac mini M4 to install an SSD, but several screws got damaged—especially the really small ones (I think from the fan or internal assembly).

I’d like to replace all the screws needed to open the device and reach the SSD area.

Does anyone know the exact screw sizes? Is there a full replacement set available, or do I need to buy them separately?

From other close up videos, looks like a 3 pin connector going from power supply to logic board. So I assume 12V DC Pos and Neg. But what is the 3rd wire for?

Place is to power this directly from 12V DC source and I will bypass this built in power supply.

While upgrading the SSD I was not careful and pulled the power button cable out of the connector such that I now have two bare pins and the plastic connector they go into is torn up. Is the a part number for just the power button cable and where can I order?

How do I reattach the fan ribbon cable to the mini?

I removed the fan assembly in order to swap the SSD and in doing so dislodged the connection of the ribbon cable to the logic board. I can't reconnect it.

Mac mini (2024): What tool kit I need need/buy for mac mini pro ssd 8T upgrade

I understand I need T3, T5 and T8 screw heads to remove all the screws in order to place 8T SSD card in a Mac Mini Pro 2025.

I understand TR8 means something else, not the same, but I can't find a tool kit that has all the screw heads I need. Any tips on which toolkit I should buy.
