Mac Studio 2025: Not teardown? No guides?

Hello,

It has been half a year since the release and still there is no guide available for this.

That's weird, I thought the only purpose and business of ifixit was exactly doing this, and there is still no effort put into this.

Is there any plan for it? I am really looking forward to see it, and decide if I am getting a Mac Studio M4 for that reason... or not.

Thanks

Mac Studio: What capacitors are used in the Mac Studio's power supply?

Hello,

I've heard that the capacitors used in the 2024 Mac Mini, especially the filter caps, are apparently of mediocre quality. What about the 2025 Mac Studio: what capacitors does it use, and are they of good quality?

Mac Studio 2022: May the the board supporting Thunderbolt/USB ports be replaced?

Lost power for 4 days after Hurricane Milton. When the power was restored, my 2022 Mac Studio M1 Max emitted a loud bang. I discovered all the Thunderbolt and USB ports we no longer functional. Bluetooth, ethernet, and HDMI remained functional.

I assume these ports reside on the same board. May this board be replaced or repaired?

Rod

Mac Studio 2023: Burnt with flame and smoke

I got a mac studio 2023 m2 Max from USA and its been couple of months, I hardly used it. I powered off as i was busy for a week or so, then I tried to power on. It was tripping the inverted Circuit braker. I tried multiple times, as soon as I power on, power would go off. After few days, I found a socket that isnt connected to the inverter at home. I connected to it and powered on, Boom!!!! Flames with smoke, immediately I turned off the switch. Now its still under warranty. What could've gone wrong, and How much liable apple will be to fix it? I am worried about the costs involved of its not covered under warranty. I am still repaying my EMIs for this Mac studio

Update (06/19/24)

Its been a month, its with apple service centre. They opened and said SMPS is burnt but the damage could be more. What must be the cost i should be looking at if they dont cover under warranty? Just for power supply? Please help so I can think of options.

Mac Studio: My Mac Studio Randomly Drops Video After Update to MacOS 13.5.1

The unit's video output randomly "blacks-out" for varying periods of time, and the condition began immediately after updating to the current version of Ventura 13.5.1. I tried swapping out cables and monitors with no success in resolving the problem. I did a clean re-install and sequentially up-dated into MacOS 13.5.1 and ran under that release version problem-free with continuous video for 6 days until this morning, when the random "blacking-out" of the video feed to the monitor began again. I have "chatted" with Apple about the situation but they had no suggestions beyond what I had already done. Any guidance or suggestions would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Mac Studio: My Mac Studios fans run while sleeping

Hi,
my Studio M1 Max Mac seems to be running fans even while its sleeping.
Its running on Ventura 13.3 and reinstalling the system weirdly only fixes the problem for couple of weeks and then it starts again (done it couple of times already).
Apple support acknowledges the problem but doesn't seem to be doing anything to solve it or even repair the computer. They think it's software based.

My Mac Mini M2 doesn't have such problem so I guess it's some kind of issue with my model of the Studio.

Mac Studio: How many USB/TB controllers?

Does anyone know how many individual thunderbolt 4 and USB 3 controllers are in here.

I’m trying to determine the maxim attachment limits.

Update (01/11/2023)

For those who wonder I can now confirm a few things.

At least for the ultra. Let’s first mention that the M series chips, like apples later A chips, DO have USB controllers. It’s a logical, or soft controller implementation in the chip’s ISC but it’s still there.

Based on power draw testing the thunderbolt ports are individually powered. I don’t have 127 devices to test my theory, but I believe each port is solo control.

Second, the two usb A ports are shared; a single controller.

I guess hands-on puts it to rest.

Mac Studio: sub par wifi problem in my Mac Studio

I have the similar sub par wifi problem in my Mac Studio. Lifting up Mac Studio doesn't help at all.

I found that it performs faster if I use 15 year old tech 802.11 n. I can get 29Mbit/sec. If I used 802.11 x at 5Ghz, I could only get 8Mbit/sec.

At the exact same spot, my 2013 MacBook Air connect through 802.11 ac at 5Ghz, I could get 101Mbit/sec.

Note that the another end in iperf3 is my Dell T20 connecting through ethernet -> switch -> Unify U6-LR.

Here is screenshot. My Mac Studio wifi is horrible. I sent a complaint to <ins>https://www.apple.com/feedback/mac-studi... </ins>
