Magic Trackpad 2: Magic Trackpad 2 no longer responding nor appearing anywhere

I have recently found my old Magic Trackpad 2 and upon plugging it in to charge, nothing happened, I assumed the battery just needed time to charge but to my disappointment leaving it to charge while at work wasn't sufficient to get any sort of life from it.

I assume the battery is dead and the charging circuit doesn't want to charge it due to it being critically low but im looking for alternative answers instead of opening it up for now

Apple Thunderbolt Display: buzzing / Noise. Power supply issue?

Hi.

A friend have a problem with his 27" Thunderbolt display. Is it really annoying buzzing sound. My first guess would be the power supply??

The display in functioning OK, but that noise is killing the entire office.

How is the front glass attached? Glue? Can't see that in the break down guide.

Anyone else seen this?

Magic Keyboard: Apple magic Keyboard 2 How to fix broken alu leg?

While cleaning the keyboard, I accidentally broke the metal "foot" of the Enter key.

Any idea how to fix it? Or can I buy this part separately?

PS: In the photo "green" is the existing leg, "red" is what broke off.

Studio Display: Cracked screen, any way to fix?

Hi,

I recently had the misfortune of my apple studio display develop a small crack in the display. Luckly it seems that the pixels are fine and its just the glass. I was wondering, has anyone tried to fix such cracks with say resin? Or attempted to swap the glass screen? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I dont want to pay the eye watering price that apple are requesting to fix the issue, and I was stupid enough to not put apple care on such a pricy item. Thanks!

Magic Mouse 2: Fixing Magic Mouse 2 which stopped working on some normal surfaces

Hi,

Up until yesterday everything was fine, my Apple Magic Mouse 2 was working correctly on all surfaces.

Suddenly, the Magic mouse has stopped working on most regular surfaces and almost all fabrics (moving the mouse may move the cursor a little bit on these surfaces).

It does work on a transparent nylon, a very soft fabric (EDIT: 100% polyester) and on a leather couch and a specific part of my bare knee. (everything else like touch gestures works).

What is the reason for this? the optical sensor?

I already tried cleaning the optical sensor with a cloth, connecting it to another mac and removing the mouse preferences files with no luck.

Apple Mighty Mouse: Mighty Mouse doesn't scroll down

The mighty mouse I use has been in use on various computers for a few years now.

I was using it to browse the web when the scrollball stopped scrolling down. It can still go up, left and right but when I scroll down it goes down and spins but there isn't the usual clicking noise and it doesn't do anything on-screen.

Can I fix it at all?

Apple Pro Speakers M8756: Wire in a regular 3.5mm plug onto these speakers

I have a pair of these Apple Pro Speakers that came with my Imac (circa 2001, lamp type imac).

I'd like to convert them into speakers that will actually plug into my computer and/or headphone amp.

Can anyone offer some tips?

I've researched and the extra cables with these are kind of confusing me.

I'd like to be able to (preferably) solder them into a 1/4" jack to plug into my headphone amp but a 1/8"(3.5mm) solution will work too.

Apple LED Cinema Display 27": PLEASE HELP! Problem getting stand back into the display.

Hello! I have an Apple Cinema Display and we had to remove the stand for transport when moving. Long story, doesn't matter. Anyway! We removed the stand, no problem. I slipped a credit card in, click, the hinge came out and we unscrewed it, all good.

I went to put the stand back on, and the hinge is back inside the monitor. Must have happened while in transport. I cannot seem to get it back out. I've tried a card at a 45 degree angle while using a siding removal tool to lift the hinge from the center button and it will only come up flush, not come all the way out, AND it requires a fair amount of pull to get it to come that far. Not enough to break anything, but a bit of force.

Everything I've read said that I should be able to insert a card bent with a 45° angle and just hit the little latch and bring the hinge out again but I just cannot seem to make it work. Wondering if the community has any ideas. My last ditch would be to actually remove the glass and take apart the monitor to release the hinge and I don't wanna have to go through all that if possible.

Magic Mouse: Will not scroll sideways and up with finger on top

I have A1657 mouse. It works but no longer can scroll feely with finger on top nor sideways..If I go to line on page and put pointer to that I can scroll down..It's using the finger on top of mouse that is not working. Have checked all settings did everything..It just started happened been fine until a week ago. I have an extra mouse Logi silent touch it works fine!!! What else can I do???

Apple Thunderbolt Display: No Display but Sound and Camera are Working

I have a thunderbolt display that does not display a picture when connected nor does it come up in the settings, display window. However checking the system report it does recognize the display. It will allow me to select the camera on the display and audio will play through the display but not picture. I have replaced the function cable but no change. Would you goes lean towards the display or the logic board as the issue now? I have tried this display on a mac mini late 2012 and MacBook Pro Early 2011.

Is there a replacement battery available for the Lithium Ion battery in my Magic Trackpad 2?

I recognize that this swelling is a potential fire hazard.

Further information: The battery is a TIS 2217-2548 Apple South Asia (Thailand) Limited Product, Lithium Ion Polymer Battery

Another question: Will the Magic Trackpad 2 operate with the battery disconnected or removed as long as it is plugged into my MacBook system?

Apple Wireless Keyboard: [SOLVED] Keyboard turns on but doesn't type (anything)

Hey guys!

So, I bought this A1314 keyboard off of the flea market. And I'm not sure whether this issue I'm having is hardware or software.

The problem is that the keyboard turns on, enters pairing mode, but I can't type anything on it. And, as far as I understood, you need to type the PIN code for BT pairing from the actual keyboard itself, which I can't since none of the keys work.

I tried the Caps Lock key and it doesn't light up. So...pretty sure it's a general issue. The question is: is this hardware or software? I couldn't find this issue online, so I decided to open a new topic for it, in case other people have the same issue.

Also, is there a way to reset it...? Under BT settings on my Mac, it still shows up with the previous owner's name on it. I tried long pressing the Power button, but....no success. It turns on, LED light starts blinking twice, which I'm guessing means it's in pairing, but...when trying to connect it to my Mac, it shows the PIN I should input, but looks like nothing happens when typing and pressing the Enter key.

The keys don't seem to be sticky or anything, so I don't think there has been water (or at least anything sugary) spelled on it. But yeah, right now, I can't type anything on it.

Any idea?

Update: this seems to be hardware after all.

Problem:

Big Sur UI highlights each keystroke so if one of the keys required for pairing don't work, you can easily see it. Too bad this hasn't been kept on newer versions of MacOS.

So, in this case, the problem was indeed hardware, it was just some of the keys not registering anymore.

Magic Mouse 2: The top casing feels "loose", any way to fix it?

Ever since i got my Magic Mouse 2, the top plastic casing has felt kinda "loose" and a bit wobbly, so every time i loosely click it or run my fingers over it, it does not feel good.

Is there any way to fix this, apart from buying a completely new one?

Apple LED Cinema Display: 24" LED Cinema Display flickers then dies (A1267)

Greetings,

I am looking for some help with my 6-year old ACD. It works for about 2-3 seconds when turned on, then flickers and dies. This happens regardless of whether it is plugged into my MacBook or Mac Mini.

Using a flashlight, I can still see my desktop on the screen, but it is extremely dark. The other features (MagSafe charger, speakers & iSight) are all working fine.

Going through the questions here, this seems like a pretty common problem, however the answers are conflicting and confusing - some people say the logic board is toast, others say the backlight is dead, and I've even read something about the backlight being part of the logic board (what??) which is faulty.

Can somebody please confirm exactly what is wrong, and the replacement part I'd need to buy? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an Apple Extended Keyboard, which works pretty well, except for the W key.

If I apply very little force, it sometimes does not work, maybe two out of ten strokes. If I apply excessive force, it works every time.

What is the recommended way to troubleshoot this type of issue? I removed the keycap, but didn't see anything obvious, such as signs of spilled liquid or excessive grime.

Apple Magsafe 3 Charger: Outer isolation (rope one) "fell" out of the MagSafe connector

The issue is that the outer ropy isolation layer fell out of the connector for some reason (the end that plugs into the MacBook), is there any way to disassemble it and put the ropy stuff back in? the inner isolation is fully in tact (the black layer underneath the rope) and the charger works fine. but those ropes keep bothering me...

Apple LED Cinema Display: Black Screen with Sound

I used to have my Mac Mini (2009 edition) connected to my living room tv. Since we recently upgraded the surround sound, I was wanting to connect it back to my 24" cinema display in the office, but when I connected everything and powered on, I'm not getting any picture. Just a black screen. I've done minor troubleshooting using my Mini and my Air. The mini still connects fine via mini display port to my tv, and my air will transfer sound to the cinema display via the usb. Is there a way to determine if the display port connection on the all-in-one cable to the cinema display is bad? Or at this point am I forced into trial and error with swapping out parts? Please let me know if you have any ideas. Trying not to buy a new display in new parts. >.<

Apple Cinema HD Display: I have a 30 inch Apple Cinema Display that just went blank

I bought this new 10-12 years ago I believe. It's had a couple of odd glitches. Then about 45 days ago it went blank? I've tried hooking it up to 3 different Apple Computers (2 Mac Mini's & even the PowerPC G5 I originally bought it for). I only have one power supply which at bought at the same time. Any suggestions?

NOTE: I usually have it hooked up to my Mac Mini 3.1 (late 2012) with 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400 w/256MB VRAM.

NOTE: Light on monitor does not light up now.
