MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017: Cursor jumping randomly when typing

I have a 2017 touch bar pro, and when I type, randomly, the cursor will end up in some other place while I'm typing. I'm guessing it has something to do with the massive trackpad. Sometimes the cursor just moves and I'll be typing in some other sentence, sometimes it highlights entire areas of text, and I'll type over those. I haven't seen anything online about this issue, but everyone I know who has this model complains about the same problem. I've already taken it in, and Apple replaced the entire key and trackpad set up, saying it was possibly dust under the keyboard, but that's not the fix. It started right out of the box. Anyone know of this problem and a potential fix? I've changed some of the haptic feedback settings, but... still nothing.

MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017: Replacement bottom "chin" bar under display?

Unfortunately, I cracked the metal chin bar below my screen on my 2017 MacBook Pro touch bar, 13". It cracked since I put some stapled papers in my laptop and when I closed the screen, I heard a crunch noise and the stapler broke some of the metal chin bar under the display.

Is there anyway I can replace just this bottom bar piece? If anyone is confused what part I am referring to, it is the bottom bar below the display that is metal and has the "MacBook Pro" text. I'm very frustrated I did this to my laptop on accident. I hope there's a way I can fix it without having to replace the entire screen assembly...

If it is replaceable, how hard is it to repair? Or how costly?

MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017: Touch Bar not responding to touch

Hello,

So it all started with the butterfly keyboard issue. After it was successfully repaired, my touch bar was broken.

The issue is that it does not respond to touch. It is responding very well to to software change, and the lights are working perfectly well. basically the only thing not working is the touch (fingerprint working fine).

Another thing to note, is that i can’t find the “Touch Bar Agent” in the activity monitor (touchbarserver and control strip are there).

Of course i tried all the fixes that you can find from a google search and nothing worked.

Anyone can offer some insights on the problem? is it an easy fix? Maybe a cable not properly attached? can I avoid taking it to an apple store?

MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017: Why my touchbar have a purple tint around the icon?

I have an MBP 13" 2017 , which recently started showing a purple tint around the touch bar icons. It looks there is some sort of issue with it, as at times it just fades and flickers. Every function on the touch bar works as it is supposed to but there is some kind of issue with it.

I have tried booting in safe mode, resetting SMC, NVRAM but the issue is still there. Finally, after a few chats with Apple support, I completely wiped out and did a fresh install of the OS. And after everything, the issue is still there. So it looks like it is some sort of hardware related failure.

MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017: Mac won’t turn on after screen replacement

I was fixing a friend’s MacBook Pro 13” 2017 with TouchBar. I’ve worked on Macs and iPhones hundreds of times. I opened up the bottom cover and undid the pancakes screw to disconnect the battery and bent the flex cable back a bit to make sure it doesn’t contact the battery during repair. I went ahead and replaced the screen and then replaced the battery connector and screw.

After, I tried turning on the MacBook and I got nothing. No backlight on keyboard, no chime when I plug in power adapter, and no response from trackpad.

I went ahead and did the SMC reset and PRAM reset, but I got nothing. I then went back and replaced the new screen with the old one thinking the new one was defective or shorting out somewhere.

Nothing with the old screen either. So I put the new screen back on. I did some trouble shooting and found out if I leave the battery connector disconnected, the MacBook powers on with the power adapter plugged in. when I connect the battery back to the motherboard, it doesn’t power on even with the power adapter plugged in.

I think it’s safe to say it’s the battery or battery connector to the motherboard. Not sure if that connector piece is replaceable or not.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017: Ambient Light Sensor not working after LCD replacement

I've had the display (full upper case) replaced third party after I somehow managed to crack the LCD. My insurer's terms are you have to use a repairer company that they specify (and accidental damage is not covered by Applecare in the UK) which is not Apple Authorised, so they have to use refurb parts.

It's all good except for the light sensor. Shine a torch at it, cup your hand over it, nothing happens. I wouldn't mind so much as the display and keyboard can be manually adjusted, but unfortunately the touch bar cannot - it relies entirely on auto adjustment based on ambient light level. So it's always on full brightness, which is distracting in a low light environment.

I've tried the following:

NVRAM reset (several times)

SMC reset (several times)

Reinstalled the OS from scratch

And of course auto brightness is turned on.

Is there anything else I can try or is it just likely to be a duff sensor? I don't really want to send it back to the repairers if I can help it as it's a very slow process, it's been over 3 weeks turnaround and I'd probably be in for that timescale again.

The iSight camera works fine, and as I understand it the sensor is on the same board.

MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017: Unstable charging on a MacBook Pro

Hello there guys! Hope someone can help me to figure out what's going on.

So I have a Late 2017 Macbook Pro and for a while now I have a problem with charging. If I unplug the mac for a while and let it fall to low percentage, sometimes when I try plugging it back in it's not reacting to it in any of 4 USB-c. Like nothing is happening it doesn't start charging. All I can do is trying plugging it in and out and hope that it will work. Occasionally it will start charging by itself but sometimes it doesn't.

And here comes another issue, if I will let it turn off with no charge - It's a really big hustle to turn it back on again. Sometimes it's not going to be working for days because it just won't charge. I mean it turns on, shows an empty battery icon and turns off again - while it's plugged in but not reacting to the charger. The Only thing that can help after that is SMC reset, but I have to try it like literally about a hundred times. After desperately doing it for hours it will start charging again and work as usual.

So what things I've already tried:

Trying different charging cables (including those at Apple store) - no difference.

Different power adapters - no difference.

Replaced the USB port module on one side - no difference.

Replaced the Macbook battery - no difference.

So if anyone has any idea what can be causing that and how (or if) it can be fixed?

Cheers.

MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017: Suddenly showing vertical lines and weird color on the display

Hello,

Today I just turned on my 2017 MacBook Pro 13” Touch Bar system it’s suddenly showing some weird vertical lines along with weird color for everything on the screen.

I tried to reset NVRAM and SMC but no luck. I also tried to hook to the external monitor and it works fine with it!

So this is maybe not software related issue but hardware. I did find out that when I tried to close the display lid, on certain angle the screen becoming normal again! So maybe this is just a problem with the display cable coming loose?

This is not the first time the screen was having an issue, back I also got some weird black lines appear on the bottom of the screen if I use the laptop for certain hours/when the laptop becoming hot and it will disappear when i turn of the laptop for some hours

I live in a region where there is not authorized Apple service provider, only some random computer shop that claim they can fixe Apple product so, at least I want to know do I need to replace the entire screen? Or just open the system up and maybe fix the display cable that loosen?

Note: my system is out of warranty

MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017: Fan stuck on max immediately after boot. (Thermal Paste Replaced)

Macs Fan Control temps are all normal ( 35-40˚C) but the right fan is stuck at 8800~ rpm when it should have been 6864 rpm at max. I did try reinserting and cleaning all the cables connected to the logic board as well as resetting the SMC but the problem persists.

Apple diagnostics show an error of PPF03, meaning a fan data control line might be the cause. Does anyone know where that data line is? Or if so, which of the cables connected to the logic board is responsible for the fans?

UPDATE: Searching the internet, it may be a sensor issue, but all sensors seem to be normal. (Here is a screenshot; In case something is missing)

Update (10/25/2019)

Update: Soo I have obtained the schematics and the circuit which controls the fan speed has transistors Q6000 and Q6050. Upon rechecking my board, get this.

Looking a bit closer, there should be two small black boxes, one on top and the other on the bottom.

It seems that upon reassembly, these components were scraped from their pads. Problem is, I can't find them. Pretty hard to buy one either.
