MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014: Won't turn on but battery charged.

Macbook pro 13" mid 2014 won't turn on but the battery indicator light on Magsafe shows orange. So I let it charge all night and now it shows green. Does that mean the logic board is still working? If so what would be the issue?

More over, when I press Shift, Control, Option and power button while charging, Magsafe turns green for 2 seconds and turn amber again. Which usually means the reset works. So the power button seems to work as well.

Any idea how to fix it? Won't turn on, no startup chime, and no light at all.

MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014: Big Sur from Catalina completely failed mid-cycle bricking my Mac

Maybe you can help.

The update to Big Sur from Catalina completely failed mid-cycle and bricked my MacBook Pro that originally had Sierra on it.

I tried to get into recovery OS but couldn't even unlock the FileVault using my Apple ID correctly because of corruption.

I used find my iPhone to wipe the MacBook entirely and that triggered internet recovery mode which showed the drive had been split into three partitions. I couldn't delete them until I rebooted and triggered the Big Sur internet recovery OS by holding Option, Command, and R keys.

Then, Disk Utilities First Aid worked and let me Restore the drive, but every time I try to update via the internet it just fails.

I don't own another Mac and used TransMac to make a bootable macOS Sierra install drive. However, it is not recognized when I boot the system when I hold the Option key.

About to throw the laptop into a trash can out of frustration for what was supposed to be a good update. Issue stemmed from when macOS decided to download Big Sur & Catalina supplementary update.

MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014: Trackpad and Keyboard fail randomly, MacBook not usable

Hi,

The Trackpad and Keyboard of my MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2014 (A1502) just stopped working properly. Everything was fine but when I started it yesterday, the Trackpad would just respond every 20 - 30 seconds or so and then just for a few seconds. The Keyboard responds about 50% of the time but some (random) Keys won't work. Additionally, sometimes the letters appear a little later compared to when I pressed the key.

The mouse pointer works with an external USB connected mouse but this one hangs sometimes as well, but just for half a second every now and then.

I tried resetting NVRAM and PRAM and also erased the hard drive and installed Sierra completely new, but without any success. I can't imagine, it's a faulty Trackpad AND Keyboard.

I didn't spill any water over it and I didn't move it at all before the issue occurred first.

The codes given by Apple Diagnostics are:

NDK001

NDK003

NDR001

I'm grateful for any help. Cheers!

Update (05/21/2017)

Putting it in the fridge for 2 hours didn't help at all :-(

I connected a Magic Trackpad via Bluetooth that worked perfectly a few days ago but now has the same issues like the external mouse and lags every 10s for half a sec.

That's why I think the issue is probably not hardware-related but has something todo with the drivers of the periphery. What do you think?

I already installed the OS completely new without success, is there a more thorough way of putting the macbook back to factory-setup?

Thank you

MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014: A1502 Logic board compatibility between 2014 and 2015

So I'm currently shopping for a new logic board for my dead mid-2014 macbook pro 13. I believe its an issue with the power regulation circuit meaning it is something I am not at all able to fix myself, so I figured I should get a new logic board and perhaps do an upgrade in the process. This is the exact one I have: https://everymac.com/systems/apple/macbo...

Firstly, can I put an i7 board into the case when it had an i5 in it previously?

When I'm searching ebay for "A1502 logic board i7" I get 2014 and 2015 models. Will a 2015 logic board work with the rest of my 2014 hardware, assuming both are 'A1502'?

Additionally, if I put my old SSD in the new board do I need to do any sort of formatting to get it to run properly or should it just work from the get go?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014: MacBook fan does not speed up causing overheating despite sensors ok

Hi all,

I havean issue with my Macbook pro retina 13 2014:

despite high CPU usage, the fan spins constantly at 1300 RPM, which causes the CPU temperature raise up to 80C.

All temperature sensors seem to work fine and I can manually adjust fan speed as well as it can be changed by MFC.

Also i tried 3 different fans and the situation doesn't change.

I tried to reset SMC, pram and to reinstall the system (was cooling down CPU manually, don't ask how)

Atm i am using MacFanControl to regulate the speed of the fan, but the issue is still present and causing some discomfort, like i can't install new OS because MFC doesn't run during OS installation and i am afraid of overheating.

Despite all components look good, the system doesn't regulate the speed of the fan.

This happened after i heavily broke my macbook and tried to repair it by replacing its aluminium body, its broken screen assembly and its noisy fan (was a bit bended which caused noise).

It is interesting that after i disconnected touchpad the fan was speeding up normally when CPU temperature was raising. The downside of this was that macbook was constantly throttling , CPU usage was 300% and everything was very slow. I had the same symptoms when camera's cable was damaged.

Can anybody help me with this please?

MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014: Start up issues- flickering screen.

My computer just started flickering between the passcode screen and the start up screen when i open it from sleeping (closed). I can force it to shut down by holding the power button and then restart it, it boots up fine.

I haven’t been able to find this particular issue in searches and am hoping someone here might know what is happening and what i need to do to repair.

I am now only able to use it when connected to the power-cord- i gave s new battery coming to replace the current one. (Not sure if this could be related to the flickering)

Thanks in advance for all help.
