MacBook Core Duo: My MacBook appears totally dead since I tried to change the ram.

I have this MacBook that a friend gave me a while ago. It was working, and I’m pretty sure that it was a “5,2” from 2009. It only had 2GB of ram and I took a 2GB stick out of the slightly earlier version of this MacBook that I have (it’s a “4,1”) and put it in this one. Since then, it has been totally dead, despite my taking out the ram stick and putting back the original pair of 1GB sticks, and making every effort to secure them properly. (The 2GB stick works again back in the older MacBook.)

BTW, the battery, which I move back and forth between the two MacBooks because it’s the only good one I have, is charged and it starts up the old MacBook without any power cord. The light on the cord turns green when plugged into either MacBook. It was orange for a while when plugged into the “dead” Mac while the green lights on the bottom of the battery were on. They don’t light up at all now.

I’ve tried to start it using various suggested key combinations I’ve found online, to no avail.

MacBook Core Duo: Getting an Error When Booting

I'm still rocking a 10.6.8 on a 2006 Macbook (I know, I know) with a Core Duo processor (not the Core 2 Duo), but just recently, it started getting stuck on the boot-up screen. I get a loading bar, which I never did before, and it goes about a quarter of the way, then back to zero, a quarter of the way again, then it shuts off. Just now, I tried turning it on again, and it says, (panic(cp 0 caller ox2abf6a): Kernel trap at oxoo294d00, type 14=page fault, registers: CRO: oxooo1003b, CR2: oxob91f000, CR3: 0x00101000, CS4: 0x00000660. Before this, the only issue it was having was that sometimes when I'd close it, the trackpad and keyboard wouldn't respond upon reopening. I'd either have to tap them till they did, or try closing and opening again. I know it's really old, but I'm wondering if, based on that info, whether you could tell me what part it's likely to be so I can attempt a repair. I replaced the display a while back, but that didn't solve the trackpad's occasional non-responsiveness, although I still had to use the old cable to go into the logic board. I was thinking of trying to replace that, but I'm wondering if maybe the logic board itself has crapped out. The top case has also been replaced before, so I don’t think it’s that…

MacBook Core Duo: Possibility of Using iSight Camera/Microphone Externally

Hello!

I want to take the iSight/microphone from a MacBook and stuff it in an external monitor. Right now, I'm concerned if the connections in these parts are USB. Is this so? If it's FireWire, then I don't think it's worth it for me. I am aware that I can't route the connections through DVI or whatever.

Thanks.

MacBook Core Duo: Keyboard, trackpad and on/off switch stopped functioning

I am not sure of the model I am using and cannot get into the system to find out the model number.

The machine was running but the airport module was down and I had to connect to a router with a cable. Battery was fully charged and I was also able to connect with the mag power cord.

The Mac went to sleep and when I woke it, I was having issues with the system and thought that a restart would help. I did a restart normally using the trackpad but then the keyboard and trackpad stopped working.

I was able to get a mouse to work using the USB port and was able to get online but was not able to key in any websites. There were no keys working on the keyboard. I shut the system down and when I tried to restart, even the on/off button had lost functionality.

Now I cannot restart the machine. Does anyone have any clues? Please help.
