MacBook Air Models A1237 and A1304: Are 60w & 85w power adapters safe to use on MacBook Air?

I've seen internet postings on various sites saying that it's safe to use the 60w and 85w Magsafe power adapters with the MacBook Air (which comes with a 45w Magsafe power adapter). But I can't find any official statement from Apple confirming that this is so. Just curious if anyone can definitively confirm that it is indeed safe.

MacBook Air Models A1237 and A1304: Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer

I installed the original Macbook Air installation disk 10.5 in the Macbook Air external Super Drive. When I attempt to install I get the above message. I Erased again, got the same disk info,/Volumes/xxxx's Airbook, format Mac OS Extended (Journaled), 3 folders, 3 files 111.4GB available, Verify disk is OK.

I also have a new 10.6 installation disk but I can't get the 10.5 disk out of the external drive.

Why am I getting the "cannot install on this computer" message and how do I correctly install the 10.5 software?

How do I eject a startup disk from the external drive when the install disk is not available to Eject or the Drive itself cannot be ejected because the disk could not be unmounted?

MacBook Air Models A1237 and A1304: Where is the battery sensor in an A1304?

I have a problem with a MacBook Air 2,1 A1304.

The MacBook runs fine from the power supply, but the battery will not charge and the computer will not run from the battery (even though a battery is present, working, and has over 60% charge). MacOS shows no battery present.

Running Mac Hardware Test results in error code:

Error code: 4SNS/1/40000001: TB1T-0.000

This is a temperature sensor error and - I presume - therefore the battery temperature sensor?

The question then is what, if anything, could be done about this?

I have searched widely but cannot find where the battery temperature sensor is located on an A1304. Any tips most welcome!

Further update

The question was raised below if this was simply a battery problem. No - the same happens with other batteries I have tried, and the batteries are new or new-ish. These two screenshots show Coconut Battery and the Ubuntu battery overview - but with a different battery installed. The same faulty temperature reading in Coconut Battery.

MacBook Air Models A1237 and A1304: What hard drive do I need, and what is the connector called?

Hi! So I've never worked on Airs much, and then I came across a few of them. One powered on (model A1304) but was missing the hard drive. Easy enough, I thought. One of the other Airs (completely dead) had a hard drive cable, so after buying a 120GB "MacBook Air hard drive" on eBay for $70, I thought I'd be all set. However, it turned out that the cable from the other machine had a different connector on the logic board side than my working machine (machine's connector is squarish, whereas the cable's connector is more rectangular). So the next step was to buy the appropriate cable on eBay. It came in today, and the next gotcha is that the cable on the HD side is only half the width of the connector on the HD, so (I assume) it won't work with my drive. I was not aware there were different connectors on these hard drives.

Question is, for all you people more familiar with these tiny hard drives than I am: What are the variations (small connector vs wider connector) called? Is it the SATA vs PATA versions of these drives? I need to purchase yet another drive to finally finish up this Air, and I don't want to make another mistake, so it would be useful to know the proper terminology.

Thanks!

UPDATE: I've uploaded a picture showing the two cables, and the two different connector types on either end. As you can see, one fits and is the same width as the connector on the hard drive, and the other is too small.

MacBook Air Models A1237 and A1304: Battery displays X after replacing battery?

I just received a battery, for my Macbook Air 13" Mid 2009, that I purchased through ifixit. I installed the battery, and now the battery indicator shows an "X" in the center of it. I am being told that the battery is faulty. Does anyone know what the problem could be? This battery cost me $124, is supposed to be brand new, but does not appear to be charging.

Update

I was able to resolve the issue. The male connector, on the new battery that I received, did not fit into the female end very well...at first. The connection was very loose and kept coming apart. I tried it again, and this time carefully used a small screwdriver to push the battery connector into the fitting on the board. I had to apply a bit of force, but it finally snapped in and the connection was secure. The battery is now charging and displaying the charge lightning bolt. I've replaced these before, but never had such a poor connection fit before. Appears to be working well. Thanks to those who tried to help. Cheers!

MacBook Air Models A1237 and A1304: What causes the loss of sound problem on the MacBook Air?

Recently had my MacBook Air rev A hinge fixed at Apple Store in the UK and they fixed the loss of sound problem by replacing audio board and cable.

Its known that the hinge problem in early MBA models was a design issue that Apple now fix but does anyone know what causes the loss of sound problem and why its a hardware fix please?

Also, given that both are now fixed, is this now a permanent solution in both cases please?

Finally, why is there no statement on the hardware fix for loss of sound on MacBook Air, like there is for the hinge problem please?

Thanks!

MacBook Air Models A1237 and A1304: Can I replace internal HD with SSD?

I would like to get a solid state disk drive for my MB Air. Is that possible?

I see different messages online, many suggesting that the original PATA Zif version was custom made for Apple and that standard PATA drives will not work.

Is this true and is there any way around it?

MacBook Air Models A1237 and A1304: Internal Microphone not working?

The microphone on my Macbook Air has stopped working, which I figured out when I couldn't make any skype calls.

Have checked System Preferences -->Sound and increased the input levels but that doesn't make a difference.

The hinge on the macbook has broken, as a result the right side of the LCD is almost detached from the computer itself. Could this be a reason (although I have been using the mic successfully despite the hinge problem for a while) ?

Incidentally, i did drop the macbook a few days ago. Can anybody help me in fixing this problem myself?
