MacBook Air 15" 2023: Keyboard and trackpad spare parts + replacement instructions

Hi,

A few weeks ago, I spilled coffee on my 15-inch MacBook Air M2 that I bought a few months ago. I immediately took it to Apple, and after opening it, they confirmed there was coffee inside (thank you, AppleGenius ;) ).

They explained that in such cases, they offer a repair package for €1200 regardless of the damage (the laptop costs 1600€!!!) They didn’t even properly clean the coffee and didn't reassemble the bottom panel correctly (I thought my battery had swollen, but it was just an incorrect reassembly).

Since then, I bought the necessary screwdrivers (I already had probably 50 different screwdrivers, but of course, they used a new one :-)), opened the MacBook, and cleaned everything.

The laptop has been working perfectly for the last 2 months except for the keyboard and trackpad, so I'm obliged to use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse which is not very handy for a laptop :-)

Besides that, it's working like a charm.

The problem is, I can’t find the needed parts to replace the defective ones myself (I work in IT and have repaired several phones and Macs using iFixit :-)).

Does anyone has any idea where I can find these parts? And some indications about how to replace them (especially the keyboard)

Isn’t it a legal obligation for Apple to provide the corresponding parts?

Here is the exact model #: MQKW3FN/A

Thank you so much in advance, any help is appreciated.

Regards

MacBook Air 15" 2023: Replacing the display on a MacBook Air M2 15" (A2941)

The display on my MBA 2023 has failed and I'm looking to replace it myself as I no longer have warranty coverage. If I swapped the display with an unofficial replacement would the new display work properly (no shadow artifacts, etc.)? Or will I need to replace the lid angle sensor and have that calibrated as well? I've looked in past questions on this forum and asked the Genius bar but I'm getting conflicting info. Any advice from those who've tried swapping displays on this model before would be greatly appreciated.

MacBook Air 15" 2024: No Display outside of recovery.

Hi, im having a strange issue with an a3114 M3 Macbook Air.

On normal power on it chimes and flashes the power logo for a split second then goes black. When plugged into a dock I get video and it boots. But the Keyboard and mouse also are not working. Only showing the external display in MacOS

When I hold the power button for recovery options I get full display, the keyboard and mouse still don't work but the screen is fine... As soon as I click on options using an external mouse the screen goes blank but again works on external fine.

Im wondering if there is a shared power bus or something that could be shorted. I dont see signs of liquid damage inside the machine but anything is possible...

Anyone got any ideas?

MacBook Air 15" 2025: Odd clicking sounds when rotating display

Starting last week I've noticed that whenever I rotate the display on my MacBook Air, clicking sounds would come from near the middle of the display. After opening up and tightening the screws on the logic board, clutch covers, display and lid angle sensor, the clicking sound still persists. I'm suspecting it's something with the display cable. I embeded a Youtube video demonstrating the issue. Any help would be appreciated!

MacBook Air 15": Water Damage Under Screen, questions about opening up top.

High School student here, took my MacBook to school during a bad downpour, and when I opened it, big splotch of water on the screen that is only visible when powered on. Parents don't like the way prices look, so I wanted to figure out how to let it air out safely. The water seems contained within the screen, but a forum told me that taking of the top casing- (The part with the Apple Logo on it.) will help it to evaporate correctly and save my thousand dollar fruit computer. I don't want to go into this blind, considering that I don't have much experience in taking apart electronics, so I'd would be <ins>extremely</ins> helpful if I could get tips, instructions, etc. about how to remove the back safely.

MacBook Air 15" 2023: Is it possible to replace the screen on the MacBook Air 15" A2941?

Is MacBook Air 15" 2023 A2941 screen replacement possible without a pairing issue?

Hi, I want to know if I can replace the broken screen on my MacBook Air 15" 2023 A2941 with a used A2941 screen assembly.

I know the answer should be yes; however, the recent screen replacement issues with the MacBook Pro 14" models (2021 onwards) and what some people are calling "paired screens issue" with the logic board have meant that it hasn't been possible to do on the 14" model without having some side effects.

So, I want to know if it is possible to do it on the A2941 and if it suffers from the "pairing problem"? Please help me if you know the answer or if you have replaced the screen on this model. Thank you.

MacBook Air 15" 2023: MacBook Air will not power on

Hello! I just bought a 2023 15" MacBook Air about 6 months ago. My son accidentally spilled water on it, not on the keyboard but around the hinge area. When I found it I could still turn it on and then was having an issue with it shutting off. I was able to get it back on by holding Ctrl+CMD+Shift for 10 seconds and then releasing and pushing the power button. The system then booted up and I thought I was OK. Dummy me did not immediately run a backup. I ended up powering it down and for there it will not power up. I took it to the Apple Store and they said it has water damage and could fix it but my data is most likely gone. Is there anything I can do to get this working again? I really need my data as it is 10 yrs worth and I don't have a back up. I am looking for any help! Thanks in advance.
