MSI GS70: Options for fan replacement

Hi all,

I recently bought an MSI gaming laptop (the GS66) The performance and specs are generally find but the fan seems to make a lot of noise. You can adjust the settings to make it work less hard, but that makes the machine heat up too much when in gaming mode.

My question: Is there a high quality fan out there that I could replace the existing one with? One that performs better and makes less noise.

Keen to hear your insights and with kind regards, Jasper

MSI GS70: CPU getting really hot and Nvidia GPU turning on without a reason.

Hi all,

I have this laptop for some time now and i have 2 problems with it...

The first is that the CPU gets very hot 55-70 degrees while not even under load (general use like watching youtube) and yes i have used compressed air to blow dust out.

Second is that this laptop has 2 GPU' s one Intel intergrated one and one from Nvidia dedicated for gaming. But the problem is that the Nvidia GPU keeps getting activated while i'm not even gaming causing to fans to go absolutely mental.... because it thinks well the Nvidia GPU is active so the user must be gaming

I hope anyone knows a fix to at least 1 of the problems...

Kind regards,

MSI GS70: USB Ports are listed in Device Manager, but don't work

Hello Everyone,

I have the MSI GS70 (purchased in 2014). Recently I had to send my unit in for RMA because several keys on the keyboard had/were failing, and the screen had to be used at about a 120 degree angle because of the connection ended up being loose/failing to the mobo.

Initially the laptop was sent to MSI for the keyboard replacement, and then to XoticPC for the screen repair/replacement.

I received my PC back yesterday and both things that needed to be repaired work flawlessly.

But now none of my USB ports appear to work. They are listed in the Device Manager, uninstalling and reinstalling them through the device manager effected no change, and performing an EC reset effected no change. I've tried multiple USB peripherals (mouse, flashdrives, etc.) and received nothing.

The Flashdrives with lights didn't light up at all leading me to believe that the USB ports are recognized by the system, but are receiving no power.

Any thoughts on what I might try to get these working prior to needing another RMA?
