Logitech UE MegaBoom: UE Megaboom will not charge (light still flashing)

I haven't used the Megaboom for 6 months, took it out of storage and used it for the last couple of days while I was working outside (still had battery that lasted two days). Once it went flat, I plugged it in to charge overnight, the white light was flashing as normal. In the morning, I tried to turn it on and it said "Critical battery, please charge". While charging, if I try to turn it on, it just says "Charging, please wait". It still won't work no matter how long I leave it charging, though the white light is still flashing as normal. Is the battery toast? I did use it outside on a day with a lot of fog

Logitech UE MegaBoom: No flashing Light when charging

Hi there! I have the UE Megaboom and it doesn't charge at all. Currently, it only turns on when it is connected via charger. Whenever i turn it on when its connected, and press the + and - buttons simultaneously to check the charge, it keeps saying its 40%. Also the charger LED does not turn on at all when connected. I know the LED itself is not blown as it was charging after some fluke but now its back to being turned off. I have tried the following:

1. pressing all combinations of the buttons (i.e. bluetooth, power, + and - in pairs, triples or all 4), (power&- for 10s resets after sound but still cant turn on without charger)

2. Trying a new battery. (When there was no battery connected in the speaker and it was also connected by a charger, the LED light was flashing but when the battery was connected it stopped working once again) This is the battery replacement i used:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3400mAh-25-1...

3. Repeatedly plug and unplug charger for short cycles ~5s(charger connected)/~2s (charged disconnected) for 5-10mins and then leaving to charge for many minutes.

I have access to 2 chargers on which is quick charger QC 3.0 with 5V & 3A and laptop charger with 5.1V * 1A. I had brief progress today when i did step 3. with the QC 3.0 charger and then connecting the megaboom to the laptop charger after all those cycles. It then momentarily lit up the white charger light for 2-5s but then turned off.

Im running firmware version 2.2.9.

Any help will be appreciated.

P.S: I can’t avail my warranty as it’s past it. I already contacted Logitech recently and they said since i replaced the battery they wouldn’t give me any support.

Logitech UE MegaBoom: Megaboom 3 cannot downgrade demo mode firmware (v31.0.11)

I just bought a used Megaboom 3 which on arrival turned out to be a demo unit. I have read lots now about the demo units only being different due to the firmware version which disables bluetooth and requires a permanent USB cable connected to work.

Other people have been successful with earlier versions of the speaker in downgrading the firmware to the proper user firmware, but the apps I have are not working for this so far. I have the current version of the update assistant from the UE website which tells me the Megaboom is up to date (and has no option to thus do anything else), and an older app UE_1.3.91_x86 which does not recognise the speaker when the USB cable is connected.

Is there another version of the update app that will work with the megaboom 3 specifically and allow me to downgrade it please?

I’d be incredibly grateful as I was hoping to give this as a present. Thanks

Logitech UE MegaBoom: Can 18650 battery cells be replaced, or will circuit self-destruct?

Some manufacturers deliberately program the battery circuit to destroy itself if the battery cells were to be disconnected. They do that to have a monopoly on original batteries and rip consumers off.

Has anyone tried to replace the 18650 cells and had success?

For me it did not work, and I made no errors in replacing them. My box behaves as if no battery is connected (sometimes noisy sound telling me "critical battery" and such only while plugged into USB). I now wonder if the battery is actually the cause, though it seems so.

Logitech UE MegaBoom: Won't play without being plugged in

My UE Megaboom will only play when it’s plugged in.

It will flash like it is charging for around a minute then the light will go out and nothing happens. If I turn it on while plugged in, it will turn itself off after around 10 seconds unless I am running something through it. I have tried resetting and replacing the battery with the same results. The speakers crackle at high volumes but I am sure this issue is unrelated.

It would be a shame to throw this thing away because they are great when working properly.

The only thing I can think is that it is not charging because initially it was turning off and on every few seconds but now I also get the critical battery warning if I don’t play something through it. So the power must be getting through.

Any ideas????
