I would like to fix my Dad's old 1940's Lionel train. It hasn't worked since the 1970's. I remember turning the switch on the Transformer back then and absolutely nothing happened. There are no Lionel repair shops nearby so how can I get this train running again?

New, Duracell batteries, tested and all good, in remote and train. All lights and sounds work. Control board is clean, welds all seem connected well but I can't see the welds to the motor. Motor functions very slowly at first, but stops and one gear seems locked in place, but I see nothing for it to be locked on. Gears are very well greased and all other gears function as normal. Is it the motor? Or the gear? How do I fix this thing?

my smoke unit burned and I got the replacement installed, I forgot to make a schematic of the wiring and would like to make sure I have everything wired correctly. Is there a schematic or does someone have the 8632 unit that can help with pictures or a schematic.
