linksys e1200 wireless router: [Linksys E5600] Need to set wifi channel manually after restart

My router is E5600, not E1200. After a restart, I need to login to the router page and select and unselect the wifi channel to 'Auto'. Otherwise, it merely shows up on all devices but I can't connect to the wifi from any of the devices. I'm able to access internet via LAN, so that makes it clear the issue is with the Wi-Fi. Can anyone tell me a possible solution to this problem? I can't keep having to login and change the channel manually after a restart

Linksys router WRT54G2 V1: Quick question about Power adapters.

So my issue is that I got this router after replacing one (this is the older one) and the power adapter for it will overheat after 30-60 minutes. then I have to unplug it for 15 or so minutes. Can I use a different one with a slightly different output? I used the slightly higher one for 1 minute and it seemed to work fine. I can't use the old one it still overheats with a thermal pad and heatsink taped to it.

Router input:

12 Volts .5 Amps

Original router power adapter:

12 Volts .5 Amps

Power adapter from a Police Scanner:

13.8 Volts 750 MilliAmps

would this be fine?

UPDATE

Hm. Now that I think about it, I don't really want to try to open the power adapter. I don't feel confident enough in my skills of soldering to solder a new part on a adapter that handles 120 Volts and 15 amps. I've seen what happens if outlets short. (one time my little brother stuck a multimeters prongs into an outlet to see how much power comes out of it. He was okay though. Can't say the same about the outlet or the multimeter. the outlet looked something like this.)

UPDATE

Okay so I found a 100 milliAmp 12 Volts DC power adapter, while the router .5 Amps (500 milliAmps) 12VDC would this be Okay? or would the router put too much stress on the power adapter since the power adapter is 4x less amperage?

Linksys WRT54GS v2: I want to link two routers together to extend my Network.

Hi there,

First here's a little background information:

I live and work in the same building. Work in the ground level, and live in the 3rd (top) level of the concrete building. I have an internet connection in my office downstairs, and an entirely different internet connection in my office downstairs. That's two separate bills, approximately 100 bucks/month each.

Now here's my problem:

I want to eliminate one of those bills. The office connection is a commercial connection, so it is much faster. I had the building maintenance run an ethernet cable up to the third floor, so that I could connect my office (router A) router to my apartment router (router B) that way everything is on the same network. These are both linksys routers (Office is a Linksys WRT54G-3Gxx and the apartment router is a Linksys 802.11b router).

How do I get an internet connection to pass through the ethernet cord from Router A to Router B, and have router B broadcast a wireless signal throughout my apartment.

I hope that made sense...

linksys e1200 wireless router: Power / Diag. LED is blinking.

Recently my E1200 stopped working. First, I tried ''power cycling it and now it takes me to the firmware management page I pressed cancel, rebooted again at firmware page.

I guess firmware is corrupted. Tried replacing/upgrading firmware but connection always disconnects, tried different ports, cables and reseting it, nothing happened.

I got it to install firmware after many tries and it did it successfully. After it booted up, I logged back in to reconfigure it changed IP parameter (just changed from 1.1 to 2.1), saved conf. and it restarted, started blinking again.

Firmware I downloaded is correct for the model.
