Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Gen: Laptop won't charge - No charging light.

Hello hello all.

I've been given a family members laptop (Lenovo Carbon X1 6th Gen) and It won't charge, I've done the basic tests of different wall ports, different chargers, removing the battery but no luck at all.

The laptop won't even turn on with just the power cable - Normally there is meant to be a amber light next to charger port when its charging which isn't coming on either.

Thanks in advance =)

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga (7th Gen): How can I safely repaste the cpu thermal paste?

I see a couple videos here: gen 7 disassembly and similar computer (x1 carbon) repaste tutorial

And I see a gen 5 tutorial here.

However, the gen 7 disassembly video doesn't go over how to repaste the thermal paste, and the x1 video isn't the gen 7 x1 yoga. And the Ifixit tutorial is for the 5th gen.

My question is, can I follow the gen 5 tutorial, or will the innards be very different? What about the x1 carbon repaste tutorial, is that fine?

Are there unique differences to this model I should be aware off?

I appreciate any help,

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th Gen: Just got a Replacement Battery from iFixit put in, "Not Charging"

My Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon's battery was reporting that it was running at 81% of full capacity, so I decided to break down and order a new laptop battery. I knew about iFixit's reputability when it comes to DIY repairs, and it seemed like this would be a relatively easy swap considering my electrical background. Everything went according to plan, but now that it's in the laptop the upower command returns that the battery capacity is 0%, and when it's maximally charged it's still 0%.

Did I get a dud battery, or is there something obviously wrong with what I'm doing.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme (2nd Gen): After replacing the battery it's not booting

Hello,

I replaced the battery on my Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen2 with this one: Lenovo ThinkPad P1 and X1 Extreme Battery - 01AY969 (iFixIt support confirmed that it's compatible with the Gen2). After installing the battery everything seemed to work: the power LED was orange and KDE indicated that the battery was at 72% and charging.

I worked for a while on my other laptop, and then noticed that the Lenovo was powered off. It will not power on at all now. I removed the battery but it's still dead.

Any ideas what the issue might be?

ThinkPad X1 Carbon (3rd Gen): Screen not working (PC works fine)

Hi,

I will try to explain the situation:

A few weeks ago, sometimes when I turned on the PC, the screen would not display image, after a minute, it would (the rest of the computer worked perfectly, if I connected it to an external monitor, you could use it with no trouble). After a couple of days, those times the problem occurred, it would not fix by itself, so I had to reset the computer and hope it would work (sometimes it did).

Then, a few days ago, the problem became permanent. Again, with an external monitor, there would be no problem.

Troubleshooting I tried is:

Remove the battery, let it rest for 5 minutes, drain the remaining energy by pressing the start button for 60 seconds (not connected to the power nor any peripherals). Then, plugging it to the ac power (still no battery) and turn it on. After this, screen displayed image again and lead me to a menu which let me "Continue" or "Go to configuration". I selected to "Continue" but lost image again and had to restart, but this time, image was completely gone again. I tried it several times but with no result.

After step 1, I started the computer by pressing shitf, f8 and the power button. Like the first time in the last step, I had image again, and could access to that menu, this time selecting the configuration option, which led me to the BIOS. I reset everything to default and saved and exit. Once again, when computer restarted, no image. If I tried it again, I would not have results.

Remove SSD.

Unplug keyboard.

Clean the ventilator.

Given RAM is sodded, there is no way to reconnect it. Is there any solution to this? It looks like a software problem to me, because if it were hardware related it would not start working depending in the start up option.

Really thank you

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Gen: Replacement battery doesn't work

I purchased a replacement battery for my 6th gen ThinkPad X1 Carbon. The old battery’s life was down to only lasting about an hour and would shut off without giving me any warning. Swapping the battery was easy, but the new one didn’t work at all. The laptop complained that there was a battery problem and it refused to charge. I tried removing and reseating it, upgrading drivers, etc. Nothing helped. I’m back to the old battery now. Is there anything else I can try before I return the battery? Could it just be this replacement that is bad and I should get another one, or is there some reason why no replacement battery will work?

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet (3rd Gen): How to fix red flickering lines on lcd screen?

So I bought a lenovo tablet for dirt cheap and I'm trying to fix it. I think it's from either the cable or the connector on the lcd screen. Both cable and connector look fine. I've opened the device and apply pressure where connector and cable meet and by holding my finger there it fixes it. I have cleaned both connector and the cable with isopropyl alcohol and it's still the same. The line are mostly red sometimes green and cover the whole screen. Touchscreen still works fine and so are the speakers. And this happens sometimes. The lcd flickering usually happens when my tablet is being moved.

Hello, I have had this Gen 7 Lenovo Carbon X1 Since 2020. The details are below but the summary of this text is basically me asking if this model has screen/ display issues or if I've just had bad luck and should keep fixing it or give up altogether and buy a new laptop even though other than the display this one works incredible well.

A few months in to buying this brand new laptop off the lenovo website, the screen started failing, when I would try to turn it on, the screen would be black and the computer would make a noise. I sent it in a few times, and every time it'd be fine for a few days or weeks if I was lucky and fail again but since I had already sen t it in twice, they began ignoring my requests for repais until I upped my warranty and was able to actually talk to someone who told me they had never replaced the screen and sent a technician to my house to do so. By this time 3 years had passed and I had put the computer aside and bought another since it was unusable without an external display and I travel a lot so I needed a functional laptop. When the technician changed the screen, he didn't seal the bottom well, which I pointed out to him and he said this wasn't a problem. A year later the screen began failing again, but this time it's mostly flickers and has different color stripes go through it, and goes black and blue and pink and all the colors hahah, BUT I can jimmy it around and put pressure on certain points and it goes back to being perfect until I move it or touch it a certain way, or close it, and so I've been doing that for about 6 months. My dilemma now is that I would like to change the screen because I'm going abroad again and I don't want my screen which I rely on for work to die on me again overseas, but I don't want to invest in another screen if every screen I end up getting is going to be faulty. Is this a screen defect of this model or have I just had bad luck with these past 2 and the lenovo repair technicians?

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme (4th Gen): Issue with Replacement Battery for Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4

I recently purchased and installed a replacement battery for my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 from iFixit. The installation was done correctly following your guide, and initially, the laptop attempted to power on with just the new battery — which gave me confidence that the battery was functional.

However, after reassembling and attempting to boot the system, Windows shows the battery at 100%, but hovering over the icon displays “No battery detected.” In BIOS and Lenovo Vantage, I receive an “incorrect battery voltage” message. I also attempted a power reset (holding the power button for 60 seconds) and left the laptop charging for several hours, but the issue persists.

To troubleshoot further, I reinstalled the original OEM battery — which now also shows “incorrect battery voltage” and does not power the laptop at all. Given this, I’m trying to determine whether the iFixit battery is defective or if the issue may lie with the laptop’s power circuitry or embedded controller.

Before I consider any returns or warranty actions, I wanted to check with your support team:

Is this behavior something you’ve seen before with your replacement batteries for this model?

Are there any specific tests or steps I should try to confirm the battery’s functionality?

I appreciate your time and assistance.
