Lenovo Thinkpad T440s: USB lose and not working

I have a Lenovo t440 and the USB port on the left side is broken and lose. I am assuming the soldering broke. How much should a computer shop charge me for a replacement? I looked online and the USB ports them self are no more than 5 dollars for both ports. How much for the labor. I can take apart the computer my self and just give them the motherboard if that will help them at all.

Lenovo Thinkpad T440s: Why is my laptop not displaying anything, though it powers on?

I have a Lenovo T440 i7-4600U which powers on but doesn't display anything. I get a sequence of beeps (5 short beeps, a pause, and 5 short beeps again) and it goes quiet, though the system is still on. I've done the hard reboot (Take out the battery and charger, then hold the power button down for 20+ secs and turn on again) and checked for any faint lights. Also checked the ram. I think theres something up with the motherboard, but I don't know what or how to fix it. Anything would be very appreciated !

Lenovo Thinkpad T440s: 8GB Ram module sporadically not recognized

I have a Lenovo T440s Model 20ARS0BH00 with 4GB Ram soldered and an 8GB Ram stick in the single slot of the mainboard. On some boot ups the laptop recognizes only the soldered 4GB and on other boot ups it recognizes the full 12GB. I have swapped the RAM stick in case it was damaged, but that did not help. Has anyone experienced this problem? I love this laptop, but a full mainboard swap would cost too much for a 5yo laptop.

Lenovo Thinkpad T440s: Is it possible to update my T440s's hardware/parts for Windows 11?

T440s Laptop (ThinkPad) - Type 20AQ - Model 20AQCTO1WW

Is it possible/worth it to update my Windows 10 Lenovo T440s's hardware/parts to make it compatible with Windows 11? I bought this computer brand new, custom spec'd, direct from Lenovo. It hasn't had a single issue since I first got it, until 3 months ago when the fan started acting up(fan seems work intermittently, I set laptiop on ice pack when it's hot), an arrow key broke off the keyboard(can't find a replacement, so I glued the key back on- works great), and now the pending update from Windows 10 to 11 which it's telling me it's uncapable of making with the computers existing hardware.

This 2014 computer still does everything I need it to, and I don't want to spend another +$2000USD on a new one if I can figure out a fix for the Windows 11 update. Also, it looks like there are replacement fans available for $80, so I could swap the fan myself.

If anyone has any insight, I would greatly appreciate your help.

Thanks

Lenovo Thinkpad T440s: Screen remains dark after change of LCD panel and cable

Hi everyone,

I had a flickering screen on my T440s. Initially, pressing on the flickering part did the trick and I could use it as normal. After a while, the problem got worse and I wanted to exchange the screen.

And then, my odyseey started: The shop I ordered the screen from send me a wrong one with a 40 instead of 30 pins connector. Don’t ask me why, but I forced it a little bit into the LCD cable, and obviously it did not work.

When I then got the screen with the right connector, it still didn’t work. Maybe, I thought, I had ruined the connector cable when I forced it into the wrong panel.

So, and here comes my question: I got a new LCD cable, replaced it, plugged in the new LCD screen…and it is still not working. The computer however works fine when I connect it to an external monitor.

Anyone knows what I might be missing? What else could I have ruined possibly?

I would be happy for every answer and even the slightest guess.

Lenovo Thinkpad T440s: loud keyboard clacking driving me nuts

Hi All,

I've bought a used T440S and I just adore it after an Acer Aspire one 5740G. The only thing that drives me up the walls is that the keyboard as smooth as it is has some buttons like C, Z, X and W that make a horrible noise when pushed in a certain way. The C button always sounds like it wants to fall apart. (they all work)

As these are the most used keys, is it possible that the smooth mechanism that makes the pressing of these buttons so pleasant have started malfunctioning and a new keyboard has to be bought?

Is there a workaround trick?

thanks,
