Lenovo Thinkpad T61p: replaced motherboard and still have black screen

hope someone has an idea;-/ i bought t61 which wouldnt do more than show powerlight ,battery charging and a Z on the led row

it was one with the invidia death chip I figured (1489)so purchased a board that was listed as alternative lenovo used with intel chip (1487)

just got it replaced and powered up to find?

exact same problem!

bills mounting but i would like to get the darn thing working

fan comes on cant hear much in the way of drive activity…

and when i pressed the vantage button i did briefly see the littl house symbols 2 of them

snuck up on it again and got the house symbols very briefly before they departed again

without hitting the vantage button

When I switch on the laptop, the power button light does not turn on; only the fingerprint LED is illuminated. The screen is soo deam that you cannot clearly see.

Hi. I have a Thinkpad E550 and USB port on the right side (next to DC in) is not working. I checked with USB load that it provides 5V, 1A. I tried Lenovo diagnostics in BIOS and it doesn't detect USB mass storage device. I disassembled the computer and checked for cold solder joints on the USB, they were OK (verified with multimeter). The USB port in question is on a small daughter board. Thinkpad e550 parts, part number: 00HT632

I replaced the flat flex cable and it didn't help. I'm wondering if I should replace the daughter board. Since it's expensive, before I order one I would like to ask if somebody has access to schematic of that daughter board and can verify if there's some circuitry on the board that can cause the USB data communication to fail.

On this machine is installed linux mint. Here is "lsusb -v" output

Hey,

I’ve been trying to upgrade my FHD display to a UHD panel. I bought the required 40-pin eDP cable (FRU: 5C10Z23933) and UHD screen (FRU: 5D11C95781/CSOT MNE001EA1-5), which are the parts listed on the Lenovo Parts website.

I disabled the battery in BIOS and physically, then swapped the parts. Everything went fine until I tried to power the laptop back on for a test. It would not start at all, even with the charger plugged in. I initially thought I had damaged something on the motherboard, since I’ve read that this can happen during display swaps. I then reinstalled the original FHD screen and the laptop boots normally again.

Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this, or what I should check next? I'm wondering if I have a bad cable or if this broken. Would it cause this?

Whether I'm using the internal speakers, external speaker system or my ear buds, I get unacceptable static and skip. I can make this go away by rebooting the that only fixes the problem for about 1-2 hours. Any help appreciated.
